Thinking caps on?
Hi Ralph,
Sometimes my thinking cap is too small won't fit! I would start at the source since you can't find any apparent leaks, cap or shut off the pump with a valve, then if it don't "burp" you have a starting point. Still burping, problem at the pump. No burping, isolate connections, go from there. bob janes, greenville, sc --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Ralph L. Ralph, I think I am with Bob, "Backflow at the pump" if you can hook
a hose to the outlet of the pump , fill it with water and close it off. cycling on and off would reveal a pump problem. The constant Burping in my Bus has little to do with hydrodynamics. Ralph, how about the check valve at the city water bypass?

I installed a Shurflo extreme in my previous SOB, and it did just that - leaked
back through the pump diaphragms. Shurflo promptly shipped me a replacement which did not do that. I still have the original one - they said they would send a pickup tag, but never did! Thinking caps on?
Sounds like the Sporlan valve Ralph. If no leaks anywhere else, the
pump is cycling on to bring the pressure back up to it's set point for the system. Just a thought, but did you check the relief valve on the water heater? It may be weak? Is there a pressure switch on the pump head? Can the output pressure be adjusted at all? Is this one of those new pumps that doesn't have or need an accumulator? If so, let us know how you like it. I am thinking about one for my coach. Now that Todd Jones found Tweetys.com for us, I saw that they carried that new pump too. Maybe a good deal from them on one? Ralph,
I just did the same modification ... took out the original pumps (2) and the expansion tank and replaced with the ShurFlow variable speed pump. I have _no_ "burps" as you describe. The only time the pump switches on is whenever a valve is opened somewhere, causing a pressure drop in the system. Perhaps you have a leak that drips under the coach or into a basement bay...? Depending on the type of plumbing you have (I have polybutylene, but that came along well after 84), you may have specific potential leak sites where a leak of long standing may occur. In my case, the higher pressure caused the water system emptying valve, that had a hairline crack of long standing, to fail. No other leaks appeared. The Sporlan valve on my system controls the flow when you flip the 'fill tank' switch. In that situation, the ShurFlow runs continuously (that is, until I turned off the water pump switch). So, I presume that if my Sporlan were letting a small quantity of water seep past, that it might trigger the Shurflow from time to time. If you have thoroughly checked all other sources of possible leaks without finding any, then I'd say you have a Sporlan rebuild in your future.... Pete Masterson aeonix1@... Ralph, You might want to check that long handled HWT drain valve that has a
pull cable on it. I chased that problem on our FC and finally discovered it was that valve. That was after I had rebuilt the Sporlan fill valve. Water pump new, 5.7 gpm 65 psi Pump cycles after initial pressure up. The cycle is a slight burp about every 10 to 15 seconds. This normally indicates a water leak. Kicker, I have been from one end of the pressure side of the piping and no water leak. Only think I can think of at this point is perhaps crud in the Sporlan valve allowing a seepage back into the system causing a slight drop in pressure at the pump. The anti back flow valve seal is good, pulled it and checked it out. Ideas? Thanks Dick:
And another good point to add to the list of troubleshooting for future problems for all of us. Trouble shooting points collective (add any that I missed and we will put the list in the files section) 1. Leak back through pump 2. Anti back flow valve 3. Sporlan valve 4. fresh water drain valve 5. Burst piping/lose fittings and so forth. 6. City water input valve 7. Water heater pressure relief valve. I have modified that valve to an air cylinder open/close now rather then the cable pull system. Problem was the Sporlan valve Safe travels, Ralph and Charolette Fullenwider 84FC35 Ralph's RV Solutions, Duncan, Oklahoma At 10:45 AM 2/24/2007 -0800, you wrote: >Ralph, You might want to check that long handled HWT drain valve that has >a pull cable on it.
