Dave,

What's the issue? Too many of us cannot keep the refrigerator door
closed. Have you looked at some of the rally pictures lately? ;-)

Jeff,
Thanks for the tips on the air filter and the disposable
painting coveralls.
Regarding the fridge, there's one thing your theory
doesn't cover.
He said, "There has to be a vacuum
effect taking place inside the fridge, but the
hose leading from the drip plate just below
the inside cooling fins is free and clear."
If the hose from the inside of the fridge to the outside
of the fridge is clear, how can it pull a vacuum?
I think it's sticky weather stripping. I had this happen
on the outside storage compartments of a 5th wheel.
If I spent a lot of time cleaning them, they'd release easily
for a while (until I needed to clean them again)....

As in the post to which you responded George, the vacuum is created
while the contracting air OVERWHELMS the available make-up air volume
available from the condensation tube. It was also mentioned that this
is temporary. If the end of the tube is in water, it would further
inhibit the venting effect of this tube as it would have to suck
water into the tube to replace the air volume lost in the
refrigerator.

This is not simple theory, but experience. My coach 'Fridges have
done this, as do my home 'fridges and freezer. I can hear the air
hissing around the gaskets as they vent air in, with the Norcold in
the coach it actually pulls the door closed further and latches it,
slowly relaxing back out as the vacuum depletes.

As far as gaskets, I prefer to keep them clean, but the hinge-side
gasket I clean and apply a little plumber's grease (or Vasolene). The
hinge-side gasket has to slide when opening/closing, and the
lubricant helps the gasket to seat properly and avoid deformation of
the gasket, it is in the owner's maintenance manual of my main home
fridge.

In my 78 FC the Dometic 3 way refer won't operate as gas only. It
operates as DC and as AC without problem, but the flame won't light. I
have recycled the system several times as indicated in the manual. I
have bled the system at the back of the refer. There is propane
flowing to the burner, but no ignition.

The refer has not been on in a couple of months, and the gas only mode
has seldom been used in the past couple of years. What is the next
step in finding the problem?

Bill:

Do you hear a; click, click click, when trying to light the LP?

Does your model have an igniter/reigniter module? It is usually white with
4 wires, one going to a prob located over the burner tube end. If not then
you may well have a bad board in which case replace it with the
corresponding board from Dinasaur. Most replacements are the P-711 boards.

There are many things that will keep the LP from lighting.

Try this:

Check for 12 volts. Gas operation usually needs 12 volts to operate.
Take the burner apart and clean with brush and compressed air.
Remove the burner jet and only blow with compressed air to clean.
Gently clean elecrode & gap about 1/8 inch. Try to see the ignition
spark.
Clean flue tube.

Bill, there are many things that can go wrong but if you have power
and gas then it gets smaller, you can call Dinasaur Electronics
directly and they have techs that will talk you thru checking the
board out and if it is a problem they will reference you to a dealer
they are not there to sell you anything but will spend time helping
you. I had a problem with my board they helped me troubleshoot. I
really appreciate there help and would recomend them.
