I completely agree with Macy's annoyance. Ignorance leads to arrogance
which is rude and personally inconsiderate. We are in financial
uncharted waters that are extremely stressful.
Compassion is the order of the day. Especially here.

For Macy:

Methinks thou dost protest too much. Here is part of one article
published in Dec. 2007. Although all the mfrs. were optimistic the

RV sales roll with the economy

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky: The magician, dapper and gray-haired, got
laughs with card tricks and other feats that were already old when he
was still young.

Dick Stoner drew a crowd around an enormous banner that
read "Crossroads" - the company paying him so that it could stand out
from more than a hundred other manufacturers at the Recreation
Vehicle Industry Association's annual dealer convention in the
Kentucky Exposition Center.

It is no small trick to attract throngs from some 15,000 footsore
attendees at a show that covers 925,000 square feet, or about 86,000
square meters, and is packed with vehicles costing $5,000 to $1
million.

But Stoner is very good at his craft. He blends punch lines and
prestidigitation with frequent repetition of the Crossroads moniker.

After all, the $15 billion RV industry could use a little magic just
now. To read news releases, things are going great. Public relations
materials sent to reporters in the weeks before the trade show noted
that the current five-year sales period was the best in the past 30
years and that a consumer survey from the University of Michigan had
projected a 3.8 percent rise in shipments to manufacturers in the
coming year.


Winnebago announced during the show that its revenue was falling for
the first time in six years. And the industry association released
updated projections indicating that sales would probably decline 4.8
percent next year compared with 2007.

With an uncertain economy, tightening credit and gas prices through
the roof, many would-be captains of land yachts are rethinking their
dreams.

Other issues also loom in a world increasingly worried about waste,
sustainability and global warming. It might be getting harder to love
a beast that gulps a gallon of fuel every seven miles.

Little wonder, then, that one word is on many lips. Bruce Hertzke,
the chief executive of Winnebago, acknowledges that the times
are "challenging." In an interview, Richard Riegel, chief operating
officer of Thor Industries, the parent company of 11 RV makers,
including Crossroads and Airstream, invoked the specter of
a "challenging market."

Mark Warmoth, whose Weekend Warrior Trailer Manufacturing
pioneered "toy haulers" - RV's with garage space in the back for all-
terrain vehicles, motorcycles and other implements of outdoor fun -
is less prone to euphemism.

"A lot of people," he said, "are laying down and dying."

But, before anyone starts into a "serves them right" sermon about
wretched excess, fuel consumption or the driving habits of snowbirds,
consider this: Challenging times for the industry generally mean
challenging times for many other Americans as well, because RV slumps
tend to precede economic recessions.

RVs are a "highly discretionary" purchase, said Matt Howard, the vice
president for marketing at Country Coach, a manufacturer of luxury
craft that are roughly large enough to have their own ZIP code.

"The only reason somebody needs our motor coach is because they tell
themselves they need our motor coach," he said.

Manufacturers say they are optimistic that the downturn is temporary.

Well Macy,
I am very sorry about the closing.
We had planned to stop by the factory in Oct to have some work done.
Don't take what some say on this forum personally. They don't know
the score. Only your company does.
I bought my bird 7 years ago because of this forum.
The knowledge base here is incredible.
I hope the company weathers the storm and comes back strong.

some companies. New Flyer Undustries , a Canadian Company, is
runnng extra shifts and hiring more staff to keep up with orders.
Here is their January Pres release.

New Flyer Industries Inc. (TSX:NFI.UN) ("New Flyer" or

vehicles in Canada and the United States, announced today that total
new orders reported during fiscal 2008 totaled 4,815 buses (6,690
equivalent production units or "EUs") for a total of US $2.78 billion
in orders. This reflects a win rate of 64% of tenders in which New
Flyer participated. These orders are for a variety of vehicle
configurations, including 35-, 40- and 60-foot buses with clean
diesel, diesel-electric hybrid, gasoline-electric hybrid and
compressed natural gas (CNG) propulsion systems. In addition, these
orders are from both current and new customers.

New Flyer's order backlog as of December 28, 2008 was 9,531 EUs,
which represents an increase of 38% in comparison to the 6,916 EUs in
backlog at January 1, 2008. The value of the order backlog as of
December 28, 2008 of US $4.1 billion has increased by 44% compared to
the US $2.8 billion backlog at the start of 2008. Given current
market conditions, management does not expect cancellations in orders.

A breakdown of the percentage of the total backlog of 9,531 EUs
available for conversion to firm orders is shown in the table below.

I just happened on the conversation that is going on. From what I gather
it sounds like bluebird is closing. If I am wrong than that is good, but
either way this forum has provided a lot of information for everyone who
has or would like to have one of these great machines.
To critize the workings of the company or take personal attacks on an
individual is outragest.
These are tough times for everyone and we should be thankful that they
have been able to what they could.
If you have nothing to do then attack someone who is making a difference
then maybe you are the one having the problem.
I enjoy comimg out reading the different tidbits of information that is
avialable to keep my 81fc35 operational.
I know that I may not have been real active in conversing out here, but
have been here for several years reading all the information.

In the opinion of a Wannabee (everyone gets an opinion right?)
perhaps Bruce could have been a bit more diplomatic and Macy
a bit less sensitive. I happen to agree with Bruce's basic thesis
that there is something wrong in not seeing the handwriting on the
wall long before any part of 2007. In june '05 I bought a new '04
Nissan Titan unsold off the dealer lot for 24K (sticker 31K) cause the market for the hottest new pickup at the time had collapsed.
Now it is a real shame to lose Macy at the forum, but step carefully, if you have a genuine interest in old Birds and the later years of the FC in particular Bruce is "the" authority on this forum.
Time and time again a problem has been mentioned and who immediately comes to the rescue with "Been there, done that and by the way the part number you need is "XXXX-YYYYY"!

expert nor will I ever be one. But there are lots of knowledgeable
members in this forum. I will not upset Macy further with any more
comments but will add: I do give you credit to have the B-lls to come
onto the forum. There are no CEO's of any companies who enter the world
of forums. There is a reason for the lack of participation. Any
comments made by owners are just that: The view from the other side.
You, on the other hand, have a personal and financial interest in the
company and will naturally be more sensitive to comments.

On to another subject, your Chili isnt realy that good. You got most
of the Q'08 votes because wearing that hat it was assumed you are a
pro chef. (Sold the sizzle, not the steak) I had hoped to see you
back at Q this year to arrange a blindfold taste up against our 'USA
BB Best Chili Chef' but I guess your due diligence proved sucessful
in maintining your "North American BB Chili Chef Title".

I can still tast your Chili, every time my tractor hits a bump
