BLUEBIRD CLOCK
What we need is for someone to make an acrylic mold and start
punching them out. Make them any color you want. Affordable and
available...

Well, it'd be just as effective - and look just as "good" - as it does
on a Honda. Why not!

Curt,

Ah, beautiful idea on the string! You may have saved me some torn
vinyl with that idea. Thank you!

The string I used is the plumb line or string that construction folks
use. It's thin and strong.

Remember owning a BLUEBIRD is a special thing, if it were just a "cost" thing
well we might just stay at Holiday Inn....6mile per gallon 500 mile trip
$250.00!

Jim, I agree with you 100%. However, I'm simply exploring creative
ways to help some Bluebird owners scratch that very prominent itch
for a Bluebird clock. Many BB owners have gone creative with paint
schemes, etc. This is just one more novelty item and is not intended
to diminish Pride of Ownership in any way. These clocks have become
very popular and I'm sure most of us would like an original. But
that ain't gonna happen unless you buy a $70,000.00 clock and get a
free bus. No harm intended. Just trying to answer the need.

BLUEBIRD CLOCK
Anyone out there with a BB clock? If you would give me a measurement
from the nose of the bird to the end of the lower tail it would be
appreciated. Also, does the movement protrude out the back of the
wood? If so how far?
I cut a prototype today out of 3/4" thick wood and it is 19" long by
6" high. It will accept a 2 3/4" to 3" quality quartz movement in the
wing. My prototype is made from white pine and the original will be
blonde. I plan to make 7 prototypes to see what I can do with them. I
will use red oak on others and I plan to prime, base coat and clear
coat some of the pine to see what happens. I don't have anything else
to do. Colors I am considering are rose, lagoon, black, red and blue. I
may air brush one in a bluebird style and see how that goes. I would
clear coat that one. I would like to put a chime movement in one of
them but it may need to be larger because of constraints in the size
if available dials.

All are being hand made.
Thanks for any info.
