Anyone ever use POR-15?

Most hardware stores here in the Northwest carry Hammerite. Home Depot, and
Do It Best stores for sure.

I have used it before on restoring my cars. The only prep I do is to take a
wire brush and knock off any dirt and loose scale. I usually put a wire
brush attachment to my drill to knock the stuff off. It does the trick. I
have also washed the area down if it was really dusty/dirty. I did let it
dry thoroughly before applying.

The use of any acid on spring steel can lead to hydrogen
embrittlement. This probably isn't an issue with most of the
undercarriage, but could be an issue with small springs and
clamps in the engine compartment.
