The Mobil website does not even appear to list any straight weight diesel oils
any more. I have not checked to see if Detroit Diesel dealers still carry their
DD 'Power Stroke' branded oil (which was Mobil 1240). I saw no straight weight
Rotella at my local Wally World over the weekend.

As it turns out West Marine carries Delo 100 - 40 wt. If you have a West Marine
Store near a marina near you, you will usually find lots of DD 6v and 8v's in
the older boats moored there. I can walk in to the Seal Beach West Marine store
and buy Delo 100 by the gallon jug..... If needed they can order and deliver to
your door or the nearest retail store.....

I went down to my local NAPA and they had several cases of Rotella T 40W in
stock. There are a lot of tractors and old trucks in these mountains. Otherwise,
you have to have someone at a parts house order it.

I use Schaeffer Supreme 7000, 10w-40. Please spare me the lecture about the
grade. This is a paraffin blended
synthetic and it has been running in my 6V92 1985 PT-40 for 12 years. It has logged about 80,000 miles on it and
went from a gallon a thousand miles to a gallon in 2500 miles. I have the oil tested and there are nearly
zero wear metals in it. The oil is
emerald green, slimy and smells funny but it runs in my .3 liter Ford, Honda bike
and the Bus. Positive comments welcome

Gary, No problem.
I used full synthetic amsoil 15-40 in my 85 pt-40 for over 100,000 miles and
never had a problem and it's still on the road with no problems at over 180,000
miles.
I also used fully synthetic amsoil 15-40 in my 93 8v92 for over 60,000 and never
a problem and it's still on the road with no problems.
On my 99 Lx iam using Full synthetic 5-40 Rotela-T.
I used to talk to the Detroit people at the fmca and RIV rally's and they all
said as long as it's synthetic run it in the detroits. I also did the oil
monitoring and it always came back excellent.
When I bought the 99LX It had 71,000 on it and I did not know what kind of oil
the previous owner had used. I called cummins about using the Rotela-T Synthetic
and they said the sooner I could get it in the better it would be.
It works for me...

Mike,
I will be going to Houston Friday (Tomorrow) by way of A&M if you want to trade that oil. I usually go down I-35 and take theloop around Waco (at the McDonalds on the North side) and then down Hwy 6 to College Station, if you want to meet.

FYI, the McDonalds has posted that parking lot for no big rigs.

You'll need to go all the way to the corner, turn right and right againinto the big parking lot just west of the McDonalds.
