Electric Fuel Pump

Bill Did you take I-75 the whole way to MI or did you take I-85 & I-77
north of Atalanta GA. We were at the Birds nest last week & came up through I-77
on Wed. South of Fort Chriswell VA is where mine slowed down on a long grade &
the pyrometer went to1150 but it cooled down when we over the top. I think I
was only running about 35 mi per at the top.
I'm not sure where fuel pump is located either.

We had a fuel problem, We did not notice the fuel vaccuum gage
in the red. We had only about 3000 miles on the fuel filters.
The Bird died on I75 just north of Macon, Georgia.
We had just spent the day at the Bird's Nest.
We either had some bad fuel or we really stirred up the gunk at the
bottom of the tank. We do not know how much use this Bird had the
previous couple of years. The fuel tank does not have a low area to
drain contaminated fuel, It has a drain plug at one bottom corner of
the tank.

Thanks to all of the Forums' advice, we had spare filters.

After adjusting to that sinking "Dead Bird" feeling, we went to work
changed filters, and returned to Michigan.
We do not have a manual fuel primer pump, we have an electric fuel
pump.
This made the fuel priming quick and easy. The pump is located in
the rear near the fuel tank, I can hear it running above and behind
the propane tank.
Our question is: Where is it located? Who is the manufacturer?
How is it repaired or replaced?? It seems to be located between the
top of the fuel tank and under floor deck. We can not see or feel it
with our hand, It is in a really tight location.

We do not want to have that Dead Bird feeling again if the fuel pump
dies. We think it wise to carry a spare electric fuel pump.

The original fuel pump on my '88 FC was top-center of the tank, just
forward of the tank, pretty much directly above the low-fuel and
water-in-fuel sensors.

Hi Don,

I returned to Michigan on 4/7, Patty went on to Savanna Georgia,
for a girls week. I drove I 75 and was at the Birds Nest 4/4 & 4/5.
So it was me and the 7 lbs Yorkie to deal with the dead bird.
It was good that Patty was not with us.

We then made another trip to Pittsburgh to see the relatives,
this past week. We were sorry, we missed seeing you at the
Dinnerbell truck garage. We started for Michigan again about one
hour before you arrived.

Thanks Jeff,

I just hate going under near that low fuel tank.

Next time I have the jack stands out, I will take a quick peak.

I do too, something about sliding under 2,000lbs of fuel and steel tank
held by bolts I can't check.

Can anyone recommend a good replacement electric fuel pump for a
PowerTech generator 15 KW. I've replaced it about 6 months ago and
today it give out???

Facet fuel pump 4 to 7 lbs.
The one I have is a Purolator # 12S
and inside the package is a 4to7 lb. Facet pump .

Thanks,Randy I took it off and applied direct 12 volt to it...dead as
a door knob. I installed a new one today, bled the injectors to purge
air runs like a new one. I may have had one of those one out of 500?
