Need help (In regards to do not shift light)

Need help (In regards to do not shift light)
Rick,

Is the red light near your left leg (sitting in the driver's seat) blinking
out codes, and making a clicking sound? If so, I'd take it to Allison
dealer, or at least give them a call and ask for some advice.

Have you tried re-setting the trans microprocessor by removing all 12V power
(shore line disconnected, coach batteries disconnected?

My trans "glitches" once or so a year, with the "Do not shift"
lighting...Luckily, all it needed was shutting everything off, which reset the
computer,
and restarting (per the Allison owner's handbook) All returns to normal.
Maybe I'm just lucky.

Let us know how you get it resolved...please.

Need help (In regards to do not shift light)
Have a 86PT38 8V92. The do not shift light is on and it will not shift
out of neutral. Have check fluid, ground wires and many other things.
Did notice that the tachometer is showing the engine to be running
between 1000 and 2100 rpm's. When i turn the high idle on it shows the
engine running 1500 to 1700 rpm's. I turn it off and the engine slows
back down to normal and the tachometer doesn't. Could this be giving a
false signal to the transmission and causing the do not shift light to
be on. If so were do i start looking for the problem. Any help would be
appreciated.

Rick:

Get a hold of Benny at BB. He should know how they are connected
to each other.

-Kevin,

No, the red light is not on. Allison had me check for the code and
there was no flashing light. The only thing they had me do was unplug
the control box under the dash for the transmission and that didn't
work. I have not turned all the power off to the coach yet. Also
allison had me unplug the plug that goes into the transmission and
clean it and plug it back up. I guess we are going to have find a
place to stay and have it towed into the shop. We are full timing it
since being transfered to new job.

--Ron, Thanks, I have called Benny and he just called back. They
think it is the tach sender or the tang drive. He is sending them to
me. Hope this works and we can get her rolling again. Terri is ready
to hit the road again.

Need help (In regards to do not shift light)
I had a problem similar to this. The engine was idling just a little over what
the tranny brainboard would allow to shift. The solution was to disassemble and
clean the throttle at the engine. It was really gunked up with oil, grease and
dirt. Prior to that the throttle had been quite slow to respond, both up and
down until finally it just wouldn't go low enough to shift. Works fine now.

Need help (In regards to do not shift light)
-Dick, Thanks for information. I'am going to get a new tach sender
and tang drive. When i receive these items i will clean the throttle
at the same time. It has never been cleaned since we have owned it.
