Detroit 8V92 question

How many gallons of oil does the standard 8V92 require when changing
oil and filters?

Any online sources for Rotella 40wt oil?

Troy,

Book says 23 quarts for the refill...25 quarts dry. I believe you add
another 3 quarts for the oil filter. Can't help with the Rotella. I use
Mobil Delvac 40wt and I buy it and the oil filters from Detroit dealer.

Fill the oil filter and screw it on. Dump in 5 gallons and check the
dipstick. Full is between the low & full marks.

As well as being a member of the wanderlodge, you should join the bus nuts,
MCI9 bus nuts groups. A lot of them are running the DD and they are always
talking about them.

Curt; when I had my 8V92 overhauled last year the DD said use 30 wt winter
and 40 wt summer do not use muligrade oil since its hard on a DD and will
cause the engine to burn oil.matter of fact they would not stand behind the
engine if I did not use single grade oil.Dave 91 WBWL PT 40

Thanks Bill, I belong to the MCI and the Detroit Diesel two stroke
forums but they mostly discuss hot rodding the Detroits and I prefer
reliablility.
