I just finished applying LIZARD SKIN to my engine compartment. last
time I used the lead coated spunge stuff bought at a marine/boat
sote at $100 per roll.....this stuff cost me $189 for a 2 gallon
bucket....took out dog house...coated both sides about 4 coats each
side and about 4 coats to the engine cover...still have about a
quart left...may do some of the top for the Vegas heat......I am
takine a trip in a couple days to elkhart to pick up my Splendide
6000 washer and I'll let u know about sound and heat.

They did a B inspection on the bus while doing the brakes. They do

Can anyone recommend a good tire shop in the Clermont/Lakeland area
in central Florida. I have a 91 PT 40 with mix and match tires.
The outside drive tires are Firestones (12R22.5) and they're showing
some cracking. I've put aboout 1300 miles on the coach since we've
owned it and am a little worried about the tires (lots of tread, but
i've read enough posts here to think I need someone who is a pro to
tell me what I need. Like most of you, I don't think I'll ever wear
the tires out (not yet retired, so our travel options are still
pretty limited), but I do want safe, and relatively comfortable
ride.


Alos, while I'mm here, I'd like input on another subject. Thi past
weekend we put about 325 miles on the coach, some at 55 mph on back
roads and some at 65 mph on I75 and I4. temperatur stayed between
the 190 mark and the 230 mark once warmed up. My Cummins in my
dodge pickup runs at around 160 at highway speeds. Is the 8V92
running to warm or is that normal?

Tom according to the Detroit diesel factory manual that I have there
are two different thermostats that can be used in your 8V92, a 170
degrees F or a 180 degrees F, they should keep the coolant in the
range of 170-187 or 180-197 degrees respectively. For the 170 degree
thermostat the coolant range should be 170-187 degrees and for the
180 degree thermostat it should be 180-197 degrees. The maximum
temperature of the coolant cannot exceed 210 degrees and the alarm
should go off at 215.

It appears that you are already exceeding these limits and I would
have your thermostats replaced and radiator and water pump checked.

This topic was recently explored on this (or the other Wanderlodge
list) ... and (if I recall correctly) the consensus is that 190-200
is about normal. 230 is on the high side and you may want to check
your thermostat to see that it's opening at about 180 degrees.
Apparently, thermostats tend to open at higher temps as they age. Too
bad it doesn't work the other way!

Tom: I agree with all that Pete has said. My coach cycle's
between about 185 and 200 , auto fan never allow's it to go above the
200 mark. Engine oil temp never above 230. As a side note, sounds like
your Dodge Diesel is running too cold, mine always runs at 190 never
