Repair or replace rear bumper?

A tree got my rear bumper: Are replacements available? Or is there a
repair shop in the DFW area to straighten and re-chrome, plus rebuild
the right-hand side support? Any idea about cost?

Chances are if you hit the rear bumper hard enough to do anything to
the right side support (if you are talking about the bottom one that
forms the bottom support for the engine side door), you have done
more damage then that. Have you looked at the reveal lines between
the rear door and the sides? The right side support is nothing more
then a piece of U channel between those two parts. I just cleaned
mine today and rustproofed it although it was as nice as the day it
was manufactured. No rust at all.,
If that piece is bent or deformed then you have something else
causing it and that has to be straightened also.
If my experience in buying a new bumper from BB for my 1982 FC35 is
any indication (poor chrome job) I would elect to get it straightened
and rechromed in Mexico if you are close enough.

Tom:

I hooked the tree going forward, not backing into it. (I misjudged
the swing, and had no spotter.) The support I damaged goes from the
outer end of the bumper to the central frame rail box. The rhs
bumper was bent back, tearing out the bolts at the out-board end of
the support, and nearly pulling the bolts through where the support
mounts to the frame rail. As the support was flopping loose, I took
it all the way off. While underneath I didn't see anything else
damaged, but I was too mad to look at it analytically yesterday! So
while I'll be making another tuition payment to the school of hard
knocks, this one may be modest. ;-)

Is BB the only source for a replacement? Does the PT share parts
with other models?

WOW!!! Hurt. I dont believe the PT shares rear end parts with other
BB products due to its side opening doors for the radiator and
battery access and the rear door. I do have a data base for BB parts
but its only from 1992 to 2003 for all BB models including school
buses, tour buses, transit buses, and wanderlodges, and I have the
parts manual for the older FCs .
