Camping world has a chart that you take your old model number and it tell you the relpacement model. The clasic series is designed as a direct replacement. Mario,
It was best for me to visit a Campingworld and measure the display models. The frig in the 88FC was a really tight fit. You may need very accurate measurements. This was our situation, as not to loose the top storage cabinet or the drawer below the refrigerator. Fellows,
The Dometic Refrig. in my coach will not cool. I was talking to a retired refrigeration tecnical school teacher about it. He said to take the unit out and turn it over and stand it on its top end for a week and then turn back up and put it back in and that should solve the problem. I mentioned this to a cousin of mine who has owned various coaches over the years and he said he had did this and it worked. Have any of you ever heard of this before. Howard, I have heard of it. It works when the unit is "vapor locked" from not
being level or something. I doubt if it would work for anything else. Dometic refrigerator
Howard,
I've heard of it working, but what I've read is that is is usually only a temporary fix. Go to http://www.rvmobile.com/. They have an excellent troubleshooting guide and forum where the owner of the refrigeration repair company will answer your questions. If you need a new fridge, go to bigdiscountrv.com . Best prices I found. My Dometic needed a new circuit board to make it work and that was $200.00. The guy at rvmobile.com (who is in the business of selling circuit boards) said that if the refrigeration unit is over 5 years old don't spend big bucks on it. I bought a new fridge. Dometic refrigerator
David Hollis,
Fellow Birds, I went to rvmobile, com and read his section titled cooling units, how they work and diagnosing. It said to test the refrigerator only on 110v. Sunday evening I turned off the gas at the refrigerator, turned off the main 12v switch but left the electronic 12v switch on. I was hooked to shore power so the refrigerator could operate on 110v. This morning I checked and I have a cold refrigerator. He said the reason to test on 110v electric only was if the electric element heated up 95% of the time it would achive the proper temperature where as with gas it could ignite and burn but might have some restriction at the burner flue that did not allow it to achive the proper temperature. It looks like I need to clean the gas burner. Dave thanks so very much for taking the time to answer my post. Fellows the members of this Wonderlodge Forum and Bennie Collier at Bluebird has greatly helped me a novice with my Wanderlodge repairs. I was very concerned about trying to do some of the repairs but because of the help from all of you I feel I can tackle more of the maintenace. Thanks to everyone of you that post a question or replys with your suggestion or experience.
