el inverters
We have the el inverters
when trouble shooting
if the dash does not light check wiring first
if the dash works first and then dies out replaced the inverters
if the dash only lights in one portion
The important thing to remember is the size or capacity of the
inverter is directly related to the size of the panel it powers
Bluebird Traditionally used small inverters and divided the dash into
power areas or quadrants each composed of indidvidual lights or pouches
The example being the lower dash which contains the switches and
indicator lights is USUally composed of 4 or 5 lights
the upper dash that has the gauges has 3 lights
The inverters are wired in parallel (seperate outputs the lights can
be wired in series in reference to ralph's statement
If you wire the inverters in series combined outputs be sure to have
your Fire Extinghuiser at the ready with pin pulled
It is possible to power the lower dash with one ine inverter and the
upper dash with one inverter
Our inverters will power up to 2.89 square feet with one inverter that
would be size of the lower dash but you will have rearrange the wirng
if you do this be very careful not to disturb the silicone glob that
anchors the wirng to the dash this is a strain relief the wires are
riveted to the light inputs or foils it is possible to reattach the
wires if broken BUT you have to pull the dash out of the coach and the
silicone has to cut away also there can be no damage to the foils to
be successful at this
It is also possible to drill the dash BUT BUT you have to drill the
dash at a point where you do not cut into any of the lights this also
involves pulling the dash from the coach.
Personally I would not bother with that endeavour there are work
arounds if you need to attach something to or near the dash
Ralph is very correct is stating that the inverters MUST have a load
attached to survive even if the light is faulty it is a load
The inverter can be related to a flyback on a television and I do not
even pretend to know how those work (the flyback)I just know they do
The new style of el panel can be punched drilled cut or reshaped and
can be used in size up to 85 square feet
The old style we have in our coaches is cast in place and sealed and
is size limited
If anyone has any question after all this drop me a line and I will be

behind front access panel
behind drawers in middle console
in overhead for upper panels
Usually the inverters are placed in close proximity to the lights

A Caution there is enough power in these inverters to weld with
and if you get your fingers in the =way the type of burn is the same
type associated with a lightning strike very small extremely deep and
very very painful.
be there done that finger is healing nicely there should be no scar

Steven: I have talked to you before about my inverters. Well, I finally found
4 of them together in the overhead under the TV. Can put one hand on them
PN-150-3939899 (2) and PN-150-3939881(2). Did I find the correct items. Blue
with heat sinks. Wire colors are 2 black, 1 purple and one red. All the reds
are hooked together, turn green and take off to parts unknown. All purples are
hooked together and turn black to ground on a gauge post. Cannot follow the
blacks unless I pull the TV, satellite system, dvd and video system. My
diagrams dead end to a sub diagram I do not have. I do not believe either of
these 4 have anything to do with my overhead panel not working. I think I gotta
find one more. I imagine its under the other side of the TV and the rest of the
stuff up there.
Before I start poking around and get zapped, In my case the purple must be 12v
ground. Can you help me on the other three colors. I'd like to check all the
inverters. Or, If it is easier I'll call you when I'm at the bus. Thanks.
