AQUA HOT
Ok, so I thought I had everything working. Doesn't look good for the
Rally. Checked the Aqua Hot today and at first it would come on for 30
seconds then turn off. Then after 20 attempts it ran for 15 minutes
then stopped. Started over again and it ran again for 10 minutes and
quit again. each time it quits the light comes on when I try to
restart it but it won't start for 20 minutes or so..Doesn't appear to
be anything wrong with the fuel...... Can anyone HELP??

When is the last time you changed the fuel filter? If not recent
start there. Also the unit is supposed to be serviced yearly. I
believe they change out the burner. You can still go and you use
your electric hot water heater and electric heaters. Hopefully its a
filter change.

In addition, are you sure your water is cold? If the hot water
heater is working and turned on, the aquahot may not light because
the water is hot. You can check the lines to see if they are hot.

Hope this helps.

We would love to go to RIV but can't.

Mr. Brown,
I just fixed a diesel leak in our "new to us" Aqua Hot. I ended up
calling Vehicle systems about our problem and they were extremely
helpful. Also, their web site is pretty good and you can download all
the owners, troubleshooting, and shop manuals for their units. They
told me my model wasn't made anymore, but also told me which manual to
download that was practically the same. Their web site is
http://www.hydro-hot.com/
They also emailed me a word document that goes over the anual
maintenance... I will forward that to you via email.
Hopefully that will at least get you going in the right direction...

I would also think that if your unit runs for 15 to 20 mins it might
be shutting off because it has finished heating the water...when I
refired mine after the repairs it only ran for about 15 mins. The
water was very hot after it shut off.

Hope that helps,

Donald:
Are you going to attend RATS?
I do not have an Aqua Hot but a Wabasto diesel fired retrofit. My system works
as follows.
Turn the system on, set the desired thermostat temp and the burner fires until
the interior temp reaches the selected temp. The burner goes out but the
circulation pump keeps circulating the hot water. When the water cools, the
burner cycles again, and again.
Question? When your cycle is completed are you receiving heat in the bus from
the system?
It takes mine about 10 minutes to run me out of the bus on a very cool day. As
the interior temp decreases the cycle is repeated.

Donald:
I grew up in Palm River/Brandon area. It is a rare day when the snow man
commeth. You may not have a problem.
First, I would turn on the a/c to its coldest temp and cool the bus down. At
midnight or later I would set the hydronic heating system to its highest level
and see if it runs you out of the bus. If is does not produce heat you may have
a problem. Pumps, boiler, air lock, etc.

AQUA HOT
Hi Everyone,

The Aqua Hot on my 2003 coach is giving me problems. When I turn the switch to
the on posiion on the dash the Aqua Hot fires up and stays on for about 15
seconds, then shuts down. Any ideas where I might start to troubleshoot?

The sensors are not seeing the flame and going to shut down. The burner
needs to be serviced and also checked for heat cracks. Time to change the
knozzel and fuel filter.

Randy, sorry to hear about the A/H problems, you are just starting the process,
hope you have the manuals, if not; you can down load them at the A/H web sight.
It could be a number of problems. If you have the time and tools and know how
just follow the trouble shooting flow chart and you will get to the problem.
These units have all sorts of interlocks, low voltage, high voltage, low
coolant, high temp are just a few. Some oddities' that I have experienced are,
1- if your unit has a reset on the high limit thermostat, as the old ones do, it
could be open and the fuel pump solenoid valve will not let any fuel to the
nozzle. 2- If the dash switch is old it may not be giving the unit a good
initial signal and the controller shuts it down. 3- if the control unit has a
problem it won't let the unit run, in my case, everything is fine and works, but
the controller won't let the igniter spark, so I took the controller and through
it in the freezer for a couple of hours and it fired right up (shrinks up the
circuit board and makes a connection). Good luck

As mentioned above the problem could be lots of places. When the problem your
having happened to me it turned out the problem was the flame sensor
(thermocouple) just in front of the nozzle was loose. The symptoms I had is the
system would start up, run for a few seconds then shut down. The sensor looks
like bent finger that is just in front of the nozzle. At the same time you take
the burner off, take Ralph's advise and change the nozzle and the fuel filter,
if you haven't done it already.

If you haven't taken the AquaHot burner out to service the nozzle it is a lot
more intimidating to think about than to actually do it. The AquaHot manuals
are excellent. The best manuals of any equipment on my bus. They tell you
everything except the clearance between the nozzle and the flame sensor. It's
about 3/8".

Good luck and Happy trails,

Got my Aqua Hot working again. It was a fuel nozzle that needed to be replaced.
Thanks to everyone that gave helpful hints and advice. The manual is great and
really helps in troubleshooting.
