Prepping for trip - advice?

I'm prep-ing the new Lodge ( 77FC31) for it's first major "wander" down
in Baja. Any suggestions on spare parts? Special tools

So far I've replaced those 8yr old front tires with new Kumhos (BTW they
looked pretty good inside and out). Fixed the Onan - new starter did
the trick. Replaced leaky air brake valve. Raplaced fluids. Added GPS
on roof.

Complete set of filters, fuel and air for engine and generator. Air hose so you
can air up
tires from onboard compressor. I always carry a couple of different kinds of
epoxy for a
variety of repairs.

I've been told that it is wise to carry a mounted spare tire or at the least
a spare tire. According to some the roads are narrow and tire damage often
occurs when right hand side of vehicle slips off pavement (ie no shoulders).

Brent, Have you checked to see if you have a swing
radiator? If you do or don't I would take a set of
belts, oil for both engines, 2 qts genny & 4 qts
engine oil, gravel roads? a spare sealed beam,
Good Insurance acceptable in Mexico, I like duct tape,
no kidding!, and a coil o clothesline multi-strand wire,
some fuel & radiator hose clamps, a small digital
multimeter, your manual and diagrams, a few small
tools, filters have been mentioned in case you run
into crumy fuel (PeMex), money for bribes in case you
come across some crumy cops, tire gage that reads
well in your tire pressure range.

Pack like you may need it and chances are you won;t.
Don't pack that way and chances are you will.

Above all take the will to have a great time going,
being there, then returning, bring back with you the
experience of a lifetime & have a ball doing it.

All good items for the list - thanks guys. What about parts like a
starter or alternator? Do these things ever fail on the 3208? I'm
also planning on buying 4 new batteries.

Take plenty of FUEL FILTERS, recommend four each......, air
compressor to run AIR tool to get off radiator, to change belts and
take a spare"ford" fan blade and one and 1/4 open end wrench and
some spare belts and get $79 GOOD SAM tow insurance just in case.

Brent,
When we made that trip in 2003 we carried a spare unmounted tire on top.
Finding a duplicate in Mexico could prove very difficult or impossible but they
can replace if you have the tire. I picked the best looking of the take offs.
