Hi gang,
Just thought I'd share this. I made contact with one of Pokey's
previous owners. I called on a chance and a woman answered the phone,
I asked for the males' name on the records I have. She sounded a
little confused at first, but after a little explanation, she
understood what I was talking about and informed me that her husband
had "passed on". We talked for about 30 mins about Pokey, how he got
from Mn. (whre she lives and where her and her husband based out of),
to S.C. to Fla. and now Co. She told me about the Bird that replaced
Pokey. She was happy to look for any old records (including the safe
combination) and promised to call me back. She ended our conversation
with "that sure was a nice rig"...
I have had lots of "unique" vehicles, Dodge Powerwagons, Norton
Motorcycles, BMW Isetta, etc., but as a whole, this Bluebird bunch is
the most helpful and closest group I have ever been involved with.

Well, you got my attention there... back when I was about 16 or 17, I
had _three_ Isettas at the same time. Took that many to keep one
running. The Isettas were a lot of fun and easy to work on, I'd set a
patio cushion next to it on the ground, then roll the car over onto
the cushion to get full access to the bottom. (That would come in
handy with a 'bird, but it sure isn't as easy to lift!) The
electrical system was also good training for a 'bird... great
complexity. Had a lot of trouble with the generator/starter field
housing -- very clever, used the same rotor with a double sets of
stators -- but the field housing tended to short out. At least it was
real easy to push start.

Pete, Yeah, the Isetta was a real experience. It was a 600 that I found behing a
local building. Never really got it up to speed, but had some fun and interfaced
with a neat bunch of folks. We drive and ride BMW's, so it was a fun area to dip
into. Wish I had a really nice 2 seater, but they sure bring a premium. Doug n'
