Oil pressure gauge
Mike Mine has always ran at 80# when just starting up until it gets
warmed up then it cruses at 70# & drops back to 35# at idle at a stop. Mine has done that since I have had it which is aver 3 years.& 25000 miles. Do you think there is something wrong with the gauge or sender when it starts & runs at 80# till operating temp? Don 89 SP 36' Butler, PA I wonder about both gages. 80 is about 40 #s high for idle pressure. Sweet spot is 35 hot idle and 65/75 at cruise with Rottella 15/40. The dash gage has an electric sender as far as I know and that sender might be faulty. I was road testing the other day and the gauge read 25 Psi. I installed a caterpillar mechnical gauge in the r.h. cylinder headtoday and at idle cold it shows 80 PSI (it was about 51 degrees when testing)while the dash gauge still shows 25 psi Anyone replaced the dash gauge? it looks to be a job. ANY suggestions or knowledge would be appreciated. RE Brake [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Indicated 80 # @ low idle is high, even cold. I would be much more concerned
with pressures at operating temp. MH ----- Original Message ----- From: dspithaler@... Thanks, Ron, I now recollect that gauge. I'll have to do some cleaning to read it~

I'm wondering if that sending unit is located beside the direct reading gauge that Ron just mentioned?
