Spare Parts for Mexico Trip
Bruce,
I am personally bothered by your remark about corruption in the law enforcement of the southern states. You make it sound as though it only happens in the south. How niave can you be, corruption knows no bounderies or borders. I'm 62 years old and was a traveling salesman most of my working life. I have never seen "your corruption in the south". Howard Truitt Camilla, Ga. "Small Southern Town" 86 PT40 ----- Original Message ----- From: birdshill123 To: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com Sent: Monday, January 15, 2007 8:30 AM Subject: [WanderlodgeForum] Re: Spare Parts for Mexico Trip Greg: We have never, in over 18 years of travelling and living in Mexico, paid a bribe. Most of the cops are really good. Like in the Southern states some of the small towns have corrupt police. Some big cities are bad as well: Tijuana, Mexico City. We try to follow the strange traffic laws: cannot turn left on a main road that has a lateral. You must enter the lateral and turn left from there. No heavy vehicles on the road if there is a lateral. No jumping amber lights. Of course when stopped we are polite, speak Spanish and stand our ground. So far so good. Besides Mexicans love vehicles that are " Clasicos" Local cops were in my shop/garage last week and drooled over the Bird. When we went south in our Cortez, many years ago, the toll booth attendants wanted to buy her! I will be thinking of all of you and your high priced ULSD as we buy full strength loaded with Sulphur diesel for $1.85!! Howard,
I assumed when reading this that Bruce meant the Mexican 'southern states', rather than the US southern states. Bruce - I'd include a spare air bag of each size if your Bird has air suspension. Spare Parts for Mexico Trip
Hi Bill Pape;
We dont have an extra alternator but Auto electric shops are abundant in Mexico. Have the lug wrench but llanteras( tire shops) are everywhere. They do everything by hand. As for the spare on the roof: I said to my wife: How am I going to get that down? She replied. You wont, the tire guy will do it!! I stuffed a big piece of foam rubber inside the tire and have a rope. With some help could slide it down the ladder. We used my scaffold to get it up. I will post some stories as we get further south. Bruce 1988 FC35 "La Reina Gitana" |

OK all you southern boys. Calm down. No offense meant. I did not take
offence when Greg suggested I keep some 10's or 20's handy. I guess you should all lighten up. Maybe change the CD from Lynyrd Skynyrd to Neil Young's " Southern Man". But seriously I did not mean to offend you. I retract the original statement. Bruce, not overly sensitive. |

Bruce,
I am glad to see you are not overly sensitive. To show us "True Southern Gentlemen" you are truly sorry for your serious slight of the South. As penitence you should fly the Confederate Battle Flag over your bird for the next sixty days. Drink nothing but Jack Daniels, Jim Bean, George Dickell, Makers Mark, Mint Juleps or Billy Carter Beer. And eat Georgia Governor, Lester Maddox's World Famous Recipe Barbeque and Brunswick Stew at least four times a week. And when you return to the U.S. Border coming home, sing Dixieland as you cross over. Then we may forgive you. Oh by the way we listen to the Allman Brothers Band. Howard Truitt Camilla, Ga.
