What's up with Bluebird?
I guess I have had my head in a hole. When did China become a noncommunist
country? Howard Truitt Camilla, Ga. 86 PT40 ----- Original Message ----- From: davidkerryedwards To: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com Sent: Tuesday, February 06, 2007 9:05 PM Subject: [WanderlodgeForum] Re: What's up with Bluebird? Kind of ironic, that the Oneida Corporation, formed by the collapse of a communist community would turn to a former communist country for its rebirth. Most people have probably never guessed as they ate their dinner using Oneida Ware that it all grew out of one of the greatest free love Christian groups that ever existed. What's up with Bluebird?
They called themselves Christian Communists in their own literature and they
rejected private property, owning all things in common including spouses and children. I can't imagine anything more communist than that. They published a newspaper called the American Socialist. They also talked about free love, but whether they would have called themselves a free love community, I'm not sure. They did accept some members from other free love communities. They were not permitted to have exclusive sexual relationships but had to rotate thru the community although their sexual choices were always monitored by the leaders to make sure no exclusive relationships developed. They also could not reproduce without a deliberate choice by the community (in their later years). They understood human sexuality to be a spiritual expression, capable of perfecting humans. It is interesting that they seemed to have developed this view thru experiment, completely independent of the Asian traditions which developed a similar view thousands of years ago. I've read about them for years and visited the mansion house this past summer. What's up with Bluebird?
RevereWare and Oneida were brought up as once strong companies, like Bluebird,
which ended up in bankruptcy. Kerry --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Al" > > Kerry & Tom, > I am scratching my head.. What does this have to do with the topic? > > "What's up with Bluebird? " > > Am I missing somthing? > > Al Johnson > '96 BMC B50 > Mandeville, Louisiana |
