My camera is intermittant. When it works it has a shape picture. I
believe the potentiometer is going in the tank. I have contacted Tim
at RVcams and am awaiting a response.

Info:

Camera is Sanyo CCD Computar Wide Attack, Model VDC 3800
Tube is Clinton Tiawan Corp
Potentiometer is A-B Mod Pot PN 26M955. Cannot locate one even at a
guitar parts house to see if it is the problem- I'm told they are
unavailable. I'm about to give up and retrofit.

I saw a post where someone retrofitted a system without rewiring the
bus. Any info would help. Good or Bad. Thanks.

Sorry, I hit the wrong "thingie"

Leroy,
Since you do have a good picture when it is
working you might try replacing the potentiometer
if it is the one overhead apart from the TV.

Pot is an abreviation for the word potentiometer.
3 terminals, one in the center is a wiper and
gets a glaze from use. Sometimes a spray into the
opening will clear it up.

Two major concerns on replacement are resistance
value and wattage, along with shaft configuration.
Disconnected, measure the resistance between the
outer terminals, this will determine resistance value.
Physical size will determine wattage. Even if the
part number doesn't match you can replace from an
electronics shop of the web.

Thanks Bob:
I think mine is called a concentric potentiometer, I am not certain, it appears
to be a sealed version, has two dials one on top of the other similar to the old
volume, bass controls on a car radio and it says it is 100/500K. I think it has
6 small wires. It is used for contrast and brightness on the tube. I went to
the web on a guitar site and see some similar but the ratings are different.
Then I have to do something with the knobs. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Leroy, Like Curt I also revamped my back-up camera system. I bought from
Tim at http://www.rvcams.com . I used existing coax cable with a radio shack S to
Coax cable conversion. Sorry can't remember the part number.

Thanks for the info. I'm about ready to junk the old one and update. By the
time I fix the old one I still have an old one.

Leroy, I dont know what part in the Backup camera does the image
reversing but that is important to match if your replacement part
holds that obligation.
