How to get to the thermostat??
Bill I replaced mine a year ago in my 3208 89SP I didn't have any
bolts that I couldn't make. Mine only had one & it is called a regulator & not a thermostat. I don't know why. My old one was a 183 degree & the Cat dealer that I bought the new one from said it should be a 187 degree. What degree is yours. Dinnerbell Garage is sure a good one to live close to. Walt inspected my truck today. One done 5 more to go. Don 89 SP 36' Butler, PA [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

How to get to the thermostat??
Hi Everyone,
Going to do some work on the cooling system to repair weeping hose leaks. When the outside temps get cold the silicone hoses want to drop. (sounds like me) There are no leaks when the engine is hot. So, I thought I would also replace the thermostat. Months ago there were postings about replacing the thermostat on the 3208. It referred to the mouting studs and how to access the mounting bolts and nuts. Does anyone remember how many of the bolts had a nut attached in the rear? And which were treaded into the block?? I think, there are three hex heads on the front casting. I don't want to remove a bolt and not be able to tighten it back up. Bill 88 FC Michigan |
