1992 PT40 Generator coolant hoses

I need to replace the coolant hoses on a 1992 PT40 with original
hoses. Looks like this might be a tough job. I looks like I can get
to the hoses at the back of the genset easily with the generator slide
in. But the hoses from the bulk head to the engine looks like they
may be a bear to get to. I have not been able to see the best way to
do those at the bulk head.

Has anyone done this job and can give me some insight?

Well, in my 88 WBWL it was a bear of a job. Where the hoses go through the
firewall/box at the back of the enclosure there were fiting that we had to
remove (damaged-corroded). we then were able to use MARINE grade hoses which we
got at our local marine supplier. we ran those as long as we could. This was a
time consuming and dirty job. Make sure you leave a long enough run in the
generator dog house so the gen can move in and out!

At first I thought about just runing one long run for each the supply
and return. But then I figured that would not work as that fitting
at the firewall needs to remain so the spring that makes sure the
hoses returns to the dog house does not pull the hose through the
firewall. I checked with West Marine for 1" ID wet exhaust hose,
but they do not stock it and the damn hose is damaged so I have to
buy it at the auto parts place at $9.48 a foot. Need 15' to do from
the back of the dog house to the radiator and they just barely have
enough in stock. Will have to do the genset side later after they
get more in.

Called the other West Marine in Austin and they had the 1" Wet
Exhaust Hose with Wire I was looking for to replace the generator
dog house hose. It is part # 227090 and cost $7.29 a foot which was
cheaper than the hose at the auto parts house. Now the fun part
starts, installing it

Exhaust Hose with Wire I was looking for to replace the generator
dog house hose. It is part # 227090 and cost $7.29 a foot which was
cheaper than the hose at the auto parts house. Now the fun part
starts, installing it

Mike, I dont know where you are located. West Marine is not usally the best
unless you want a cooler or some shoes or the like. A place that might have a
better price would be more of a marine supply to the trade. Let me know where
you are located.

In my bus the fitting in the back where the hose goes through was not so
important as there were some brackets on the side of the dog house where the
hose were attached and held them.
