Right, you asked Brady how much he had to spare. When he said the axle would
carry 25K by engineer estimate it left out the fact that legal limit was less, but you already knew that. I didn't know the interstate limit was 20K and that is useful information. When you're in there replacing the left tag wheel seal, do the right too. Don't ask me how I know. The right side isn't far behind. If you have to replace brake shoes do them in pairs to along with drums. Sorry if this sounds pedantic. David,
I'm having it checked. You're probably right about doing the other side. It makes sense, but my Newell showed the same thing..oil residue around the left dual, and we just replaced the axle seal that was leaking and never had to touch the other side. We did end up replacing both brake shoes and drums on both sides, but that was with 145K miles. Even had to replate and weld the frame cracks around the duals, but never replaced the curbside axle seal. I hope my bird with 37K won't need much of that maintenance for a while. The bus chassis guy who worked on it was a big believer in..if it ain't broke, don't even touch it. My two biggest concerns at the moment are a terrific chatter at mid-coach which is probably an unsecured new kitchen drain rubbing against the rear slide rail and cutting down on the porpoising. Having it stored 40 miles away, using it every few weeks, it's hard to get everything fixed up as quickly as I want. Koni FSD Shocks
Has anyone put Koni FSD shocks on a Wanderlodge other than a 380 or 450?
The FSDs are supposed to give a much improved ride due to their ability to self ajust from stiffer to softer, based on current road conditions. Koni doesn't show listing for the FSD for many Wanderlodge applications, but I was told that may be because the FSD only came out about 4 or 5 years ago and Koni hasn't gone back much farther than that fitting the FSDs to the older coachs. I was also told that there may be currenttly available models of the FSD that would fit those older coachs. Wayne 96PT42 |

although I'm not sure. That was definitely the case 3 years ago when we put new Konis all around. We did put FSDs on the drivers and tag, with regular 90-series on the front. Since the old shocks were not great the improvement was substantial, but I have no way of knowing if the FSDs made any difference compared to regulars. Hi Don, was your improvement in bounce or ride quality, and was the improvement noticed in the front and the rear of your coach? The FSDs are supposed to really help on eliminating jar and vibration from expansion cracks in the road.Where did you find the proper FSD shocks for your drive and tag axles.

Since the old shocks were bad, the clear improvement was in bounce.
I had them installed by Henderson's in Grants Pass, Oregon, and they called KoniRV to get the appropriate numbers.
