1978 Wanderlodge, a few questions
Hey all,
I have a few questions about my rig. I know I read this same question somewhere before, but forgot the answer and can't find it again. In the back of my bus, above the bed dead center under the overhead storage are two light switches. One activates the power to the electrical outlet on the passanger side of the sleeping compartment. Can someone else tell me what the heck the other one does, or at least what it's supposed to do? To those who have had their radiator out, are there any cross members behind it? I'm not talking about the one it sits on and the one below it that bolt in, I'm talking about any type of brace behind it that would be at about the same level as the floor inside the Wanderlodge. In replacing the engine I found that it looked like there may have been at one point a small brace behind the radiator, but it looked like it had been torched out. While a bit sloppy, I wasn't sure if this was factory or not, because along the frame near the engine the frame has been ground removing perhaps a half inch or less of metal along the frame to allow the engine to fit properly and give it room to shift on the, if these engines do that. I figure if the factory cut the frame like that, they might have cut whatever else was up front too. I thought that maybe these changes were made due to the fact that this was a factory conversion to an RV. Maybe Bluebird found it easier to just cut out what wasn't needed then re- tool to make wanderlodges. It's just as possible that someone else cut this crossmember out to swap the engine, but that would mean there was 2 engines in 80k miles! Mine is on the upper panel over the bed. There are 3 aisle lites on my

One of the mysteries of Bluebird ownership is ---" What has the previous

Joshua, the lights should be located along the floor. The switch in
my coach is above the bed but it's a toggle switch that says "Night Light" Hope this helps... On my 78 there are three switches above the right rear twin bed on the wall. One is for the flourescent lights under the left and right overhead cabnets, one is for the courtesy lights down by the floor, and the third was, I believe, installed by a PO. I was thinking about that yesterday as I rewired the backup camera from a
constant-on circuit to an ignition-switched circuit. I annotated my schematic, but that won't necessarily mean anything. Rich Ducci told me he had extensively documented changes he made to this coach, and none of that documentation carried forward through the next two owners. In terms of the change itself, I really hate noticing a couple of hours after stopping that the camera is still on, but I want it on always while driving. I presume you did that before the power pak which reduces 13.5v to 12.0v
constant voltage for the camera system? If you have one, as I do. I don't know if mine has one or not, but if it does, yes, it was before it. In
the forward compartment (outside, above the generator) on mine there are multiple busses. Constant on, Filtered Constant, Master Switched, Filtered Master Switched, and two that are Ignition Switched. The camera shared a 15-amp breaker in a Constant On bus with the driver's seat controls. I removed that wire and re-routed it to an open location on an Ignition Bus, and used a spare 15-amp breaker.
