BLUEBIRD CLOCK

I have noticed while looking at pictures of different BBs a wood
Bluebird clock. Does anyone know where I can buy one of these for my
1979 BB?

Matthew, save yourself a lot of time and grief. Forget about buying a
Blue Bird clock. I tried and it was a waste of time. The only one
I've ever seen for sale was on ebay for $500.00. I will eventually get
around to building my own and have considered alternate materials. If
I have to build my own I might as well make it unique. Some have
offered templates of original clocks. Start there and the rest should
be fairly easy.

Ryan,
I did some checking after I posted on the clock, no one bought the clock
that was on ebay for $500.00 (smart group).
I would love to have a BB clock original or not they just look so great.
Even a template would do so that I could have someone cut it out for me. If you
have a mind to do that very idea you had I'm up for one.

One of my "money Making" ventures was to have gold and silver logos made. i
put one of those by my clock and saw that it was smaller by a few inches. I
guess you could trace the logo on the side of the bus and add a little bit to
it- there you have the makings of a clock.

Speaking of, I wonder how many people would be interested in a
reproduction of this clock? They could be built easily and sold for a
lot less than $500. After I picked my coach up, I was astonished that
anyone would pay so much for one of these. It's an extremely basic
shape cut into a nice piece of wood with a cheap clock tacked on. I
could churn out a dozen of these in an afternoon plus time to let the
finish dry.

Not that I necessarily want to, or have time for such a project. It's
mostly an academic question.

I totally agree, and others could do the same.
There are other markets out there also. The price is high because it is not a
reproduction but and original. You never know, your coach if kept in incredible
original shape may be at Barrett-Jackson one day.
That seems to be the way things go.

What wood are the clocks made of?

I need to remove mine and put in new batteries...I guess that is the way
it works...or a fuse somewhere? I've never paid any attention to it
other than I know it does not keep time. I can trace a pattern if anyone
is interested.

Ginger,
What an Idea, a hotrod Bluebird. I shall have mine lowered, skirts on the
rear, duel pipes with massive chrome tips and flame throwers, flames along the
side (pink and purple), a rear wing, a reproduction BB clock made in Mexico,
and to finish it off shave off everything that sticks out. Wow!!! Barrett

Walnut. I don't know the thickness of the clock but the walnut would
most likely have to be laminated in order to make it thick enough to
make the clock. That is part of the reason I advocated using
alternate materials. A nice baby blue bird clock anyone? If it's
not original it might as well be unique.

Curt, I'll take you up on that offer for a template. I'll pay the
