Tire Balance

Has anyone used the Magnum Tire Balancing Compound. If so what is your first
hand experience.

Howard I have about 40# of counteract balancing beads and the
injector which I am about ready to sell on ebay as soon as I get time
to do it. At about $10-$13 an ounce its worth quite a bit but
I have no further use for it so just want to get rid of it. It
attracts my friends that want free tire balancing "just to see if it
works". At one time I was considering being the East coast
distributer for Counteract nd bought a couple of cases of the product
and the commercial injector to inject the beads thru the tire valve
stem without removing the tires from the truck or motorhome. I wanted
to be sure that it really worked before I invested the money to start
the franchise. Turned out to be an awful lot of work to get the
project going and would leave me no time for my other projects.

This stuff is fantastic for those big tires the mudders use for off
the road racing and for the heavy RV tires. I have balanced a couple
of tires from a mercedes that others could not do with lead weights
on the rims. I also balanced the tires on my 1982 FC35 with it and it
worked good. I have counteract for both car tires and truck/ RV
tires of all sizes, and both the throw in bags for new tires and bulk
for injection all in measured bags..

Its almost the same as Magnum balancing compound except counteract is
not effected by water moisture. I have put it in RV tires to try it
and it works very well and is easy to install on the coach without
removing the tires. You need to make sure to install the special
valve cores at the same time which contain filters so the beads dont
blow back and get caught in the valve and start a leak.

When i bought tires for my coach, had equal installed. The tags haven't been
replaced, in my ownership. They show the most uneven wear. looks like
replacement is in the near future. Donations??

He says more and more of the truckers are asking for it. He tells me Magnum
changed to a silicon bead that moisture does not effect. I'm planing on giving
it a try unless the historic consensus on the forum is bad..
Do you use any lead weights mounted 180 degrees from the air valve to counteract
the weight of the valves and allow the Magnum to cover high or low spots.

With balancing beads you need no weights external if it is installed
correctly and the correct amount of beads. I have a chart showing the
tire size and amount of beads for each. The bags are color coded so
you just have to grab the blue bag and throw it inside the tire for
example. I say correctly installed Howard since some of these guys
just love to wipe a lot of sealant around the tire bead before
throwing in the bag and if there is the slightest amount on the bag
or there is a hole in it, some can stick to the sealant and then you
cant get rid of the leak.

For a 12R22.5 tire you will need 12 oz in each front tire and 14 oz
in the duals. Should cost you at least $80 for the magnum.

You can see how the other balancing beads compare but I cant honest
attest to whether this information is correct for I have never seen

I am going to list mine for $100 for about 40# and the injector which
was $90 by itself.

Some one in the past on forum mentioned using BB gun ammunition. I have been
puttering with it for a couple of years now, no shake or funny tire wear to
speak of yet. Cheap too. Using about 12 oz per tire. I can't abide by that
equal sand stuff, particularly in light of the "special" valve stem filter
required. I tried it once, never again.

So you put BB's inside the tires, they roll counter clockwise and find the light
spot in the tire as you come up to speed. Then when you stop it does it all
over again. Interesting.

My coach came with the disks on all wheels and I really like them so
far. Very smooth and quiet. Which is why I am selling all of the
counteract beads.
