Battery Choices - Re: Getting Back on the Road this Weekend...
Hello Dan,

Thanks for your battery advice. It seems that others agree with you too.

I was on Trojan's website and also came across the T-125 golf cart
battery. It is the same size as the T-105, but a little more
powerful... But that does not mean it is better... Anybody have
experience with the T-125?

Thanks so much!

Andy

Battery Choices - Re: Getting Back on the Road this Weekend...
Andy,

More is almost always better, But recheck the height of the T125.
It is taller and this height would not fit into our 88 FC, Also the
T125 is a really heavy battery. Take a look at Deka batteries.

http://www.eastpenn-deka.com/

The specs for the 6 volt Deka batteries are about the same as the
popular Trojans. The Deka is mfg. in Pennsylvania , A battery
distributor stated there is about a 15 to $20, savings per battery if
you are located East on the Mississippi because of the Trojan
shipping cost from the West coast.??...
But this may just be a sales pitch............
I purchased 6 Deka batteries, because they were available, had the
post type connectors, and yes they were less cost than the Trojans,
Only six months old , But so far they are good.,

Bill 88 FC with lots of stored energy

Battery Choices - Re: Getting Back on the Road this Weekend...
Boy I thought the T125 was taller then the T105 also and I am sure I
checked the spec's when I thought about making the change for my 1982
fC35. But checked them just now and they are indeed the same
physical size. But after using the Interstate batteries I would not
spend the extra money to get a Trojan battery. In my area Trojans are
almost impossible to find. Interstate batteries are built just as
good and you can find them anywhere in the US in case you need to
replace one in warranty while travelling. I just got 6 new Interstate
6V deep cycles from a wholesaler in Syracuse,NY and paid $58 each for them.

Battery Choices - Re: Getting Back on the Road this Weekend...
Interstate is a marketing company they job the maunfacturing to the
lowest bidder
and I really doubt they are just as good
For trojans go the website use the dealer locater
And yes the the t105 and t125 are the same physical size the
difference is in the internal makeup of the battery

you post you just bought 6 interstates how many batteries does your

here is a list of who makes interstate battery nothing more than a

The manufacturer's code number will be on the battery and is only sure
way of identifying the manufacturer. Ask the dealer who made the
battery. In the United States, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), can
provide a useful source of information on the manufacturer of the
battery. Manufacturers, joint ventures or distributors will sometimes
have lines within a trademark or brand, for example, Bronze, Silver,
Gold, Platinum, Titanium, Premium, Heavy Duty, Commercial, Standard,
Plus, Turbo, Calcium, Classic, Maintenance Free, etc., for
differentiating quality, features or warranty periods. They will also
contract with other manufacturers to build special purpose batteries
and batteries to complete their product lines that are not
economically feasible to build themselves. A good manufacturers cross
reference list for Sealed Lead-Acid (SLA) batteries can be found on
Battery Solutions Web site.

Battery Choices - Re: Getting Back on the Road this Weekend...
OK Stephen, since you know so much about batteries, I need to put in
new house batteries. Eight 12V Group 31. Any recommendations? The
guy next door is the Interstate Batteries Distributor, but that isn't
a deciding factor......

Battery Choices - Re: Getting Back on the Road this Weekend...
Stephen as you well know there are many many other companies that
sell similar products with different trade names but all manufactured
by the same company. I see nothing wrong with that. Interstate deep
cycle batteries are still fine batteries very well made and actually
slightly heavier for the same battery U2200 versus T105 and more
capacity at 232AH versus 225AH for the T105. I paid $58 each for the
Interstate batteries and could not get a T105 even if I ordered them
for less then $100. What do you sell and ship them to NY for? As I
noted earlier Interstate batteries are predominent here in New York
and can be easily obtained almost anywhere, a very important factor
to me as I travel. There is no such thing as a trouble free anything
and if I get in the middle of no where and need a replacement I want
to get it whether its a tire or a battery. Thats why I buy Interstate
batteries and Michelin RV tires.

I actually looked for Trojans when I needed the first ones for the
1982 FC35 but could not find them anywhere close by (nearest place
that stocked them was Buffalo, New York). And then I bought two sets
of four Interstates for the 1982 FC35, one set for the coach and
another for the high reach machine we have. I still have the same
set of 6 Interstates in the 1985 PT 40 and still have the 6 Optima
batteries also. Hmmm arent I allowed to do that.

I simply noted before that in my opinion Interstate batteries are
comparable in every way to Trojans and can be bought a lot cheaper
here. If others have another experience then they can chose for
themselves based on their personal needs.

Battery Choices - Re: Getting Back on the Road this Weekend...
I don't recall saying the batteries were no good I was stating that
interstate was nothing more than a marketing company that sells
batteries a good marketing model
Interstate sells a number of products by different manufacturers not
similar products made by the same manufacturer Which leads one to
believe that the lowest bidder gets the contract. So I would question
the quality at times.
Personally I like Rolls and Surrette Batteries for flooded Cell
Lifeline and Fullriver for AGM
I also like the comments on this forum especially when one member
bushwacks another who is honestly trying to sell their coach for
whatever reason
Another case of opening mouth and changing feet.VBG
Lets get on to fixing coaches
