turn signals (fuse?)
Hi group
haven't been on in a long while. Had the bird to a shop in Medford yesterday, replaced a solednoid for the levelers, checked the steering box bolts (one was nearly off) and to see why the air horns quit. Anyway to make a long story short I now have NO turn signals..... readying for a trip (working for SE Publications doing RV site maps). Sure hate to have to go back to Medford monday.....felt a little skinned by the labor charges and time spent... after hours of making sure there was air etc. (they told me I needed new horns- I asked them if the horns were getting juice, they finally humored me and got up on top to check, they were. Turned out the connections inside the back of the horn just needed cleaning), also wanted the retarder greased and the guy spend 20 minutes and couldn't find it. I showed him where it was (zerk fitting). I was also charged 1.1 hours of labor to clean battery terminals & check fluid......the guys clock in and out of each job. One of them went for a test drive with another mechanic and was gone a long time. Beings it was after hours by the time I left the service manager was already gone so I couldn't talk to him about the labor hours.... Had all turn signals when I went and it was after hours by the time I hit the road...later realized I had no turn signals.... Wondering if there is a fuse or plug somewhere I can check. Blast! Thanks Rose Mary 82 FC Side Bath JP's White Bird Oregon |

turn signals (fuse?)
Rose Mary,
My fuses for the turn signals are located right in front of your right knee(when in the drivers seat). I have had that fuse pop twice in 4 years. Also, the flasher unit is in front of your left knee, mine was the diameter of a half dollar and about 1 1/2" long mounted to the dash by a spring clamp(sorta like the spring clamp you would hang a mop or broom handle). My 85PT40 has 2 fuses by right knee. 1 was for flashers, haven't had any experience with the other fuse. Rose Mary if it wouldn't be too inconvient or possible too nosy, could you
elaborate on exactly what you had done. The reason I ask is that for several years now we (forum members) have been recommending Roberts as a good spot for service. If you could enlighten us to exactly what was done in your service and what parts were replaced it might change a few minds. I sure hope not thought because I've had some good work done there. What the mechanic will probably tell you after a couple hours is that you were
just low on turn signal fluid. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

ha! ha! sounds about right.
Anyway turn signals issue still unresolved. Have the front off and have looked under the dash with a mirror and flashlight. Just can't seem to find a fuse or flasher..... Anyone with an 82 FC 35 side bath that can tell me where theirs is located sure would appreciate it. Don't want to take another 6 hr drive to and fro to that shop for this...after the $500 I dropped there Friday for labor hours,(which I fell was a rip for what was done... even tho the signals all worked before I went there..... If one light bulb were bad it wouldn't make the whole circuit quit would it, I mean even the lights on the dash for the turn signals, I'm thinking flasher???? thanks for your help Rose Mary 82 FC 35 JP's White Bird Oregon --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, Tommy Standard wrote: > > What the mechanic will probably tell you after a couple hours is that you were just low on turn signal fluid. > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > |

Rose Mary,
Turn Signals...Are you saying there is a bulb or more that do not light up? If so, replace it/them, and let's hear what happens. Curt
I just send you an email before checking back here.... the turn signals all worked before the visit to the shop Friday. Anyway, no turn signal lights, as well as no lights on the dash for the turn signals. Could a burnt out bulb make it all stop? thanks Rose Mary --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Curt Sprenger" > > Rose Mary, > > Turn Signals...Are you saying there is a bulb or more that do not light up? > If so, replace it/them, and let's hear what happens. > > On 8/12/07, Rose Mary > > > > ha! ha! sounds about right. > > Anyway turn signals issue still unresolved. Rose Mary - Are you in the northwest right now? Come on up to Port
Townsend next weekend and we'll find the problem. I know there's a space 'cause there was a cancellation.
