Interior Panels

In the on going efforts to spruce up the ole bus I have turned my
attention to the interior panels. I am speaking of the off-white
vinyl paneling that is common to all of the older BB's found on the
sides and ceilings of the coaches. Any pointers as to how to clean
up or renew them. Mine are not real bad but I am wondering how to
make them look as nice as possible. Anyone ever try to paint them?
If so how did that work out and what did you use?

A good vinyl cleaner will work. Then a good vinyl dressing. Worked for me.

Curt, I've tried stuff like 409 and Fantastic and although they have
certainly helped I would like to do a little better then what I have
been able to accomplish with those products. Have any specific
recommendations? I guess too the issue is how hard to scrub before
you are doing damage. My coach is 35 years old and for its age its in
rather nice shape but I would like to get this interior as clean and
fresh looking as I can. John

John,

I buy products from an automotive detail supply store. MARK V is the company
that makes the supplies.

Using the MARK V vinyl cleaner and a soft scrub brush I was able to clean
the vinyl in our previous 'Bird, a 1974 FC and did the same process to our
87PT. I'd spray on the cleaner, scrub with brush, and terry towels to wipe
the cleaner/dirt off. Then I went back over the vinyl washing with clear
water only. Then applied the MARK V vinyl dressing.

You can paint them using Dupli-color vinyl and fabric spray available at any
good parts store. They will look brand new when you are finished. Numerous
colors are available.

I can't seem to remember everything at once. Getting old. Be aware that 409 can
scratch certain paints and corian. I used it to clean bugs from the leading edge
of my aircraft wings years ago. I have never purchased another bottle.

Clean them good with a vinyl cleaner, then use 303 Protectant on them.
Best stuff around that I have found. We use it on hot tub covers.

In order to paint them, you would first have to clean the walls and ceiling. We
did that and liked the results so well we didn't need to paint. We used a
product called "Magic Eraser" on the difficult areas. Worked well.
