My 83PT35 gen starter is a 27 MT Delco. Yours should be the same. A Starter
Alternator shop should be able to rebuild your unit for about 150.00.

Or......buy one of the new replacements that are gear driven, higher
torque, lighter,
and a lot cheaper......and not OEM.

Mark, I would probably do the same as others and have it rebuilt. BUT
if you want some great pricing on Kohler parts check these guys out.
wwwPartsForTechsdotcom. I just bought a bunch of parts..slip rings,
bearing, stator, brushes and they were great to deal with and assured
me they were the lowest price. FINALLY got the genny running and the
compartment redone with sound proofing..next new exhaust and that
project will be DONE...on to the next sheesh...

When mine burned out, I got a replacement over at a small shop at the
Medford Airport...
I'll see if I can get a number and give them a call tomorrow...and I'll
look at the
starter on mine to see if I can get any info to track it down......I think
this is an offshoot
from new replacement starters and alternators for the aircraft
industry...I'll post
