heater problem

Hi Robert,

Had a similar problem with mine. Replaced sporlans, pumps, hose and
just about everything in between with no success. Finally, this past
summer, was replacing my engine water pump and the gate valve that is
attached to it. As it turned out the valve had "dropped" the gate and
even though the handle was turning, the valve always stayed closed.
According to a plumber I spoke with later, that will happen eventually
from corrosion if you do not "exercise" the valves a few times each
year. Have someone operate the summer/winter switch and also make sure
that the chassis heat thermostat on your wall is set to 'heat' and the
temp is set to 80 or so. There should be a "click" in each of the
sporlans in your engine compartment when you alternate the switch from
winter to summer on your upper dash. Also have someone operate the
lower dash switch for "front heat" and check the "in-line" sporlan
down by your air step that contols the front heater loop. As a last
resort, try checking the gate valves in the engine compartment. I
eventually replaced all of mine with 3/4" ball valves. No more
problems with that dropped gate BS!
