97 bird for sale
Hi group,
Have a friend that is interested in maybe getting a bird. He presently
has a 99 Safari.
He is looking at a 97 no slide 43ft WB that Mr. Oliver has for sale.
It is on consinement there from Buddy Greg.
A Paul Davis is the previous owner.

Anybody have any info on this bird I can pass on?

Paul Davis is the owner of Mr. Olivers. I doubt that he was also the
prior owner of the coach in question -- at least, if it's the same
Paul Davis. It is also unlikely that Buddy Gregg, a large RV dealer
would put a coach on consignment with a competitor -- even a small
one like Mr. Olivers. So the 'history' you have seems confused.

My experience with Mr. Olivers (where I bought my coach) was good and
I'd do business with Mr. Olivers again...

If a coach doesn't sell within a 'reasonable' time, Mr. Olivers will
put it on eBay at an aggressive, _no_ reserve price. I got my coach
for $30,000 less than the advertised list price by waiting until it
was put on eBay.

My only caution is that the photos posted at the Mr. Olivers web site
will tend to enhance the appearance of the vehicle. This is not a
conscious effort to distort or misrepresent the quality of the coach,
but it is a psychological aspect of viewing photos online. It is very
important to view the coach in person to get a better feel for the
actual condition of the vehicle.

My experience with Mr. Olivers was that he did not under or over
state the quality and condition of the coach. He did not 'catch' that
the exterior of the radiator needed serious cleaning -- but it was a
problem that was difficult to discover without significant
disassembly of the shrouds, etc. surrounding the radiator. (I
experienced some overheating on my maiden trip home from Texas while
crossing Nevada. I later had the radiator core replaced. That was the
most expensive of the unexpected repairs I've encountered. Everything
else I've encountered have been normal for the age, mileage, and
condition of my coach.)

Bob,
I bought my current coach from Paul Davis. He has a small mom and pop operation
northeast of Dallas in Princeton, Texas. I got what I thought was an
exceptional price and a good deal on the financing. His prices are usually very
competitive. Before this coach, I had a Newell and tried unsucessfully to trade
with Paul. I talked with the people at the Newell factory who occasionally
consigned a coach to him. They told me that, in their dealings with him, Paul
had always done whatever he said he would do. Also, Paul maintains a small
service operation for his purchasers with shop labor at well below local rates.
We've had to have some punch-list work redone there (some of being done now, I
hope) but all in all we're satisfied. His service manager, Ryan is young and
still learning, but pretty sharp. Like most dealers, he's interested in selling
you anything you'd buy. He may not tell you every negative about the coach
you're considering, but I don't think he would intentionally mislead you. And
that puts him above other dealers I've heard of.
I'm sure other people have been left unsatisfied by what Paul Davis has done or
not done, but on average, I'm very comfortable dealing with him. The previous
owner of my coach had nothing good to say about Buddy Gregg..whom I always
thought was top-notch. It just goes to show you can hear about disappointing
performance from just about anyone. As for the coach, 186K miles is a lot of
miles but condition and maintenance are everything. Brad Barton
