Auto Generator Start Help
Hey Guys,
One of my last major problems with my coach is the Generator Auto Start. I have no paperwork in my coach about how this should work. I have engaged the dash switch. The switch in the bay is turned on to auto start. It will not start on any setting. Any ideas? The coach got a new generator a few year ago Kabota - Powertech 17KW this could be the problem perhaps this genny did not have that option. Also last year I had to put in a new automatic power transfer switch, genny/ground power. This could also be part of the problem, but it would not start before I installed the new switch so perhaps not. I've let the power run down and nothing ,it will not start on her own. Auto Generator Start Help
Kurt,
On my '95, I have a Low AC setting and a No AC setting. Low AC means that it will monitor the house batteries and start the generator before they go below a certain level of charge. No AC works when you are relying on 110v, say for air conditioning, and do not want a popped breaker to stop air conditioning until the batteries drain down. This is more like an instant on setting. You can test the No Ac by turning off power at the breaker. Generator should start immediately. Low AC requires what you evidently did, drain the batteries to the level where it starts the generator. If neither setting and test works, the auto gen has an issue. Since I am not technical, maybe someone else will chime in with next steps. I always find inserting my American Express into the problem area works. Auto Generator Start Help
The '95 has the option -- the stock genny is a 15kw Powertech.
However, I have not been able to make the auto start work as I expected. In a test, it started once, ran, then shut down, but did not restart as expected... Auto Generator Start Help
Kurt,
My coach is a 2004 but maybe yours works the same as mine. Do you have a Trace inverter and a RC7GS remote control panel where you turn inverter off/on and monitor batteries. If so, that is what you use to set up auto start on your generator. I made mine work so maybe I could help you if you have the same set up. Email me if you want to try. Lloyd 2004 M380 |
