We stayed in Tom Sawyers Mississippi RV Park in West Memphis, AK about
2 weeks ago, on our way west. There was another Bird there, too.
Right on the banks of the river, tow barges go past, fun place.
http://www.tomsawyersrvpark.com You go across the Bridge on I40 to AK, but
it's an easy drive back to Memphis.

There is a KOA south of 40 far east metro area.
Stayed there several times, not a bad place.
I'm not comfortable over nighting close to the city.
Memphis isn't New Orleans, as far as crime, but it's close. We used to work
events at the drag strip on the north side. Seemed like every time we were
there always a few stories of things being stolen, whole race rigs, rental cars,
what ever. Too bad as "Memfo" has a lot of good. Just watch yer back.

I live in Memphis, and not the suburbs, IN Memphis. It's not nearly
as bad as it is made out to be. The bad things that happen here are
generally concentrated in areas that none of us would generally find
ourselves in anyway.

As for camping here, not a lot of options. The KOA off I-40 is in a
suburb called Lakeland, it is a fine place in an area without crime,
though it is certainly a "no frills" campground. There is also a
site across the street from Graceland on Elvis Presley Blvd.
Graceland is actually in a rough part of town (changes a lot since
Elvis lived there), but there is so much security around the
Graceland complex that there aren't usually any problems.

Beyond that, there are several places within reasonable drive of
Memphis, you could choose one based on the direction you are heading
from here. Drop me an email when you come through town, I always
like meeting other owners and viewing their 'Birds.

This link below is a good source for peer review. you can check on
parks you know and get a feel for the validity of posts.

The numbering system is a poor method to scale but comments are
revealing. Reviewers Values differ. A LosVegas park got a low value
from one reviewer. Comment= "young women sunned half naked most of
the day by the pool". Value =low,1

Curt and Phil are considering the park for a West Coast Rally.
