Brake Lights and Hazard Flashers

Scott, mine act in the same manner. Someone with some good electrical savvy could help us out here. Ralph, is this a doable alternative?

I asked this once before and got no response, thought I'd try again.

On my PT, the tail/brake lights and turn signals are not separated.
This means that if the hazard flashers are on and I step on the brake,
all the lights around the bus stop flashing.

Is there a way to separate the brake lights? To me, the optimum
situation would be if one of the two tail lights on each side worked as
a brake light and one as a flasher...but I would settle for simply
having the front & side lights continue to flash when the brake lights
are activated.

Any suggestions?

Go back there and isolate the leads for the brakes and the signals..I don't think that you will find that the signals and the hazards are on seperate leads. on my coach they are on the port (driverside) I am guessing that someone connected them together, should be pretty easy to attch the leads to the lamps you want.

They are, that is why I am looking for a way to separate the lights,
like my old FC-the bottom light was the tail/brake light and the top
was the signal.

It may be easier to add a strobe kit to the head lights and
taillight/running light wire and remove the emergancy flasher. the
more common the led bulbs s get the less noticable the filament
lights become.

I purchased some led screw-in bulbs for a tail-light retrofit
attempt and the salesman warned me that I needed red led's in the
bulb. His claim that the white bulbs would show up white even
through the red lenz was correct!!!!!!!. Even when I reordered the
red bulbs the result was disapointing. The red leds showed up like a
big red dot and the bulds attempt to fill the lenz with light was
poor.

This sounds like an application requiring diodes. (The selection of the
diode is dependent on the current that it will be handling.) If you don't
like the inherent .7 volt drop across the diode, the diode could activate an
automotive relay similar to the common BB headlamp and rear lamp relay
modifications. It's a matter of deciding exactly what you would like to see
lit and when, then supplying that info to someone with basic electrical
skills. The challenge is to find a tech capable of wiring it neatly and
documenting the work for future service.
