Water pump
I've been out of town for a few day and probable missed some of this thread.
What I did is eliminate the OEM pressure regulator/check valve combo unit, installing only a check valve on the coach fill side, and using a 50psi pressure regulator on the outer end of the fill hose (should use one when hooked to shore water connection); this resolved all the tank fill issues that I have experienced. Yes, the sporlan valve may get plugged but so far only once in 3+ year. The problem was the OEM regulator was plugging up and stopping the water flow. I have pictures of the unit I built, maybe a write up. Email me if you need more. On Feb 12, 2008 6:22 PM, Gregory OConnor <"Gregoryoc@aol.com"> wrote:

Leroy:
Actually the pump is pumping, just in a circle from the pump back to the tank. Bill 84 FC 35 SB "$quanderlodge" Terrace, B.C. Canada ----- Original Message ----

If after filling the tank, turning off the water and disconnecting and storing the water hose you forget to place the fill switch in the off position, the pump will run and not pump water. I did that once and thought I had a bad pump until I figured it out. It made me feel a little dumb in front of the wife. She needed to use the head on the road. Water pump
I have never chased the plumbing down and do not have a schematic for that part of the water system.
Consensus is that the water goes in circles with the switch in the fill position and the pump switch on. In that case the water must be running through the sporlan valve and back toward the pressure regulator also which apparently has a check valve to prevent water from squirting out the side of the bus assuming the shore water is disconnected, because nothing pressurizes. Is this correct? If shore water is filling the tank and the pump is running the pump is fighting against incoming shore water???? As well there must be another check valve in the pump output line to prevent back flow through the pump while filling the tank with the pump switch off.????? If so, no one has to be concerned with trashing a pump because it is always wet????? I have a Jabsco which can be run dry without any problems. Can a Surflo be run dry without issues? Thanks in advance for the info. Leroy Eckert 1990 WB-40 Smoke N Mirrors Dahlonega, GA Royale Conversion Curt Sprenger
