I just obtained an agreed value policy through RV America. The underwriter is American Modern. The agreed value is $107,761 which is supported by an independent certified appraisal which I obtained.
What makes all the work worthwhile is this. The independent appraiser stated. "If you entertain trading this motor coach for newer production model you would be making a big mistake. This is the nicest 18 year old coach I have ever seen." He also said, if kept in it's current condition further depreciation would be minimal. For what it's worth.

Hwy 369 and GA 400. I took the coach in, he checked it out, spent about one hour physically, and e-mailed me the appraisal. $180.00. Looks closely for water damage internal and external, rust, system ops and how clean the coach is. "He was very thorough. Ask for Todd Bagley, President/CEO

I just got word back that the appraisal was accepted. If you want to use the same person who is familiar with BB's call Christine at 818-735-6770x213. She may be able to help. I don't personally know about the coach year. She was very helpful.

We have an agreed upon value policy with Hartford on the PT40. I also
use the screwdriver policy (like Greg) on the FC. Couldn't come close
to Hartford's premium with anyone & I tried them all. A lot
depends upon your broker though. Just my experience.

promptly after verifying that the vehicle was, indeed, not repairable.
(My bride-to-be rolled it 3-1/2 times.) They paid full invoice price of
the car, less 10 cents per mile and the deductible. They did not pay
the _sales tax_, however. Aside from the sales tax issue, the payment
was reasonable.


A couple years ago, someone made an ill-advised left turn in
front of my wife, causing a semi-head on collision. Her 12 year old
Honda Civic, was, to my surprise, "totaled." Frankly, the damage didn't
look that bad, but the cost of repairs exceeded the value of the car.
The insurance company paid off promptly at a reasonable value for the
vehicle as compared to the retail book price. (CSAA handled the claim
and re-collected from the insurance of the at-fault driver. CSAA is
notably pro-client in those circumstances, according to anecdotal
reports I've heard.)


As for the coach, I'm sure a total loss might bring out some
'discussion' over the loss amount, but I know to get the appropriate
professional help, should a negotiation occur. Since a total loss of a
vehicle valued above $100K is unlikely, it would mostly be a repair
situation, and the insurance company is basically "stuck" with a
reasonable number of repair estimates.


PS. I'm still married to the lady who totaled my brand-new car.
I didn't drive with her behind the wheel for nearly 10 years -- and now
I only do that very rarely. She does not drive my bus. Some things you
never forget.

to take advantage of their offering. The coverage was based on the

By the way... Hartford didn't argue for a minute about the agreed upon
value nor did they ask for an appraisal.

Ryan, if you have any under age drivers (less than 25) you CAN'T BEAT
HARTFORD!!! Also, see my previous posts on the Blue Bird coverage's.
Can't beat them & I know a lot of insurance companies that I

So, it sounds like people are happy with Progressive. Anyone know how

they deal with claims? I've been looking to switch, myself. I have

State Farm and I love my agent, love their customer service, rates are

good, etc, but the one time they had to pay me a claim for an accident

that wasn't my fault was pure hell. They jerked me around on book

value on a cheap car. $5,000 high book, I wanted $4,000 and had

documentation showing it was a high book car, they tried for weeks to

get away with giving me $900. They played all sorts of mind games,

asked me to gather information which I spent many hours doing, then

when I gave it to them they claimed it was all worthless.



I've been looking for a new insurance company since.
