"We've only just begun to look at RV's and Motor Homes.
A Vintage Bluebird our new home sweet home?" to the tune of the Carpenters' "We've Only Just Begun". I, Deborah, and my husband, Rollin, have never stepped foot into a Bluebird. But we are somehow so attracted to them. We live in Price, Utah and all the ones for sale seem so far away (everything is so far away from Price, Utah anyway!) Rollin is self-employed as an antique and collectibles dealer buying and selling on ebay (rkobelco), at flea markets, and antique stores. We want to take the business on the road as full-time RVers. We have begun our intensive research on Vintage Wanderlodges and your advice to us is very valuable. We want to settle for 3-4 months at a time and not be constantly on the road. We need a standard or queen bed, not twins. Also we desire the swivel chair (s) and not two couches. We are checking on "Vintage Birds", "Bird Connection" and a few others for coaches for sale. If anyone owns a Vintage Bird here in Utah or close by and you would not mind us coming over to take a look, that would be awesome. Thanks and blessings! Deborah

Hi Deborah,

Just jump in and do it! A coach is a coach, if you've seen the inside
of one RV you've seen 'em all, until you step into a Wanderlodge, then
you'll be amazed at how solid and well built they are compared to
everything else. If you like the RV lifestyle you don't have to worry
about stepping into a Wanderlodge and going, "Oh, bummer. Wish we
would have bought that Coachman at the RV place down the street." It
just won't happen. You'll fall in love with a Wanderlodge right away.

My advice: Look at lots of pictures online to make sure you like the
colors, arrangements, and general condition of a prospective coach.
Then make an offer contingent on a full inspection, fly out, buy the
darn thing and don't look back. I was lucky enough to take a tour of a
Wanderlodge just down the street from my house before I found mine,
but I was going to buy one anyway without having stepped foot in one.
I just got lucky when a nice man in a PT-40 pulled into a campground
and I saw him from the freeway.

Oh, and I highly recommend you buy the PT-40 at a minimum. If you want
to live in it, go as big as you can afford. I love mine. Very glad I
didn't get something smaller. This coach is very livable. Plenty of
room, you can make fewer compromises with a big coach like this.

I'd be happy to give you a tour of mine but I'm up here in Washington
State, so it would be quite the drive for you. Smile I'm sure you can
find one closer, but trust me, you won't be disappointed when you step
into one and I wouldn't put a whole lot of emphasis on *needing* a
tour before deciding a Wanderlodge is for you. Sounds like you've
already made up your mind, anyway, and you couldn't have made a better
choice.

Also keep an eye on Mr. Oliver's (http://mrolivers.com/). They often
have Wanderlodges for sale.

Oh, and your configuration should be easy to find. Most of the coaches
have the chair(s) and desk behind the copilot's seat. I specifically
wanted a pair of couches - now THAT was hard to find. Looked at dozens
of coaches and only saw two setup this way, bought the second one I
found.

Chris,

Welcome to the forum and Congrats on taking the ownership plunge!
Keep in touch if you need help on the way home. You may want to print
out the contact lists in the Database area of the forum for emergency
calls. Check the fluids and especially the tires and their pressures
before heading home with your new baby.

Safe travels,

Deborah:
Well, you think Price, Utah is far away from everything.
I bought a coach two years ago from Randy Dupree, he lives in Gainseville Florida, and I live just south of Alaska panhandle, now that is one long trip to make.
What we did find is lovely people, made friends along the way, and even more friends at the Buellton Rally - all of these owned the wonderful Wanderlodge.
Dive in, ask questions if you have problems or concerns and just have fun.
One thing to mention, have another $10,000 dollars handy for all the little things that you want done to get things the way you want them or the way they should work.

On our trip home, we had a wonderful time, I drove through every kind of weather, almost every kind of traffic, and even turned the wrong way, but only once
LOL. To top this off, I did this with a 25 foot car hauler in tow.

And for all those folks, with the 4:11 gears and 12R22.5 tires I topped out at 78 mph, along the Texas flats.

Hi Walker
We are looking at all of the options. We are leaning toward the PT40 due to queen bed. But like I said, we are looking at all options except twin beds and 2 couches. If it is convenient, we would like to see the pics. We have a toad already so would you sell just the coach and perhaps the hitch?

I can go onto vintage birds and click the email if that would be helpful to you.

Hi Mario
That would be awesome if we could meet to be able to see your BB. It shocked me to think that someone is coming trough Price. If all works out, Rollin and I will look forward to meeting you. Safe travels. My cell is 435.650.5691. Thank you for you offer. I looked up your area code. Long Island, NY? If so, my sister's husband's family own the Red Barn restaurant in Westport, CT.
Blessings from
