Ron, inspection in Texas is a piece of cake. The inspector will ask to drive the coach. Last Dec the inspector asked that same thing. I asked him if he ever drove a Bluebird. He said no. I said that you are not going to drive this coach. He said ok, asked that all lites, and horn and wipers worked. All was fine. $12.50.

Texas Motorhome Inspections
To anyone on the forum,
Okay, totally newbie here asking about Texas Motorhome Inspections. My 1995 WLWB 42' is due now for state inspection. I am northwest of Houston in a small town of Waller, Texas which is out on Austin Hwy 290 Expressway. Do any of you Texas guys know how much the state inspection cost is and where can you get it done. I have never done this before with this large a vehicle so don't know what the requirements are. Do the Love's truck stops have inspection capabilities for Motor home Inspections. Or do the Dept of MV's have Motorhome Inspection capabilities. I have looked on the Internet for information and so far have not found anything that I could decipher. I am sure that someone on here from Texas can answer these questions. I will be very appreciative. Thank you for your help. Ron Thompson -Waller, Tx. 1995 WLWB 42'Blue Bird (cockyfox@...) |

LOL, surely that was not one of our elite Texas deputies you told that to. LOL.... Are you saying that any old service station person can inspect an RV no matter what the weight? erniecarpet@... wrote:

Ron,
We just had your coach inspected last Friday at the local gas station. The cost was $14.50 and all they did was check the lights and brake lights. I had to drive mine with the inspector and hit the brakes hard. Also make sure all your lights, backups, brake and marker lights work. Even though you don't have to pass a DOT, if you have DOT features, they like to see them all work. I think there's one across the highway from Mr. Olivers in Princeton.

thanks Brad, but I am down near Houston in Waller County. I have a local inspection place that is big enough for this 42 footer. At least I hope they will do it since they are an authorized inspection station. They are located in Hempstead, Tx. the county seat of Waller co.
Thanks again for your inputs. Ron brad barton <bbartonwx@...> wrote:

Ron,
Funny story: Years ago I used to wait to have myHonda Civic VXin Navasota when I wasworking achurch camp...because inspections out of Dallas were cheaper (no emission surcharge). The old boy on Highway 6 near the city limitslooked like Junior Samples. He said, and I quote, "gotCHINsurnce?" "Mesh y'brake, mesh y'horn." "Y'got inthang wrouwng?" And he slapped a sticker on the windshield. Probably couldn't happen quite like that today. BradBarton00LXiDFW bbartonwx@...
