I continue to wonder why we BB owners keep shooting our feet off about price. It's your asset. Yes the market is not good. But---unless you like to get greasy, roll under the bus every day, and rework the wheel; buy a beater. And when you get finished add up you time and material and see where you stand. I purchased my coach over 4 years ago and except for general upkeep, I have not spent s@#$ on my bus. I guess that is why I don't ask for help. I paid a fair price at the time. Buy quality, not trash. I bet you could ask Hank in LV whom has an SP for sale for $75,000 how a good one does. I read a post recently where he is not concerned with hauling it to MT soon. After all, he has been playing poker in Australia for a year. He will crank it up and roll. How many others can say and do that on this forum. By reading the posts, not many. This same coach has been advertised in FMCA for about two years. If my memory serves me correctly it started at $120,000. In Februsry 2007 he had it at 105K and in the march 2008 he had reduced it to 98.5 K. I would think the $82.5 K is getting close to reality.

Leroy,

Price just seems extreme to me. That's all. I could get an early
nineties PT-40 for the same price. Saw lots of 'em for sale for
~$80-$90k a little over a year ago when I was in the market. I'm not
talking about beaters, either. While you wonder why we question
prices, I wonder why people ask so much for their coach that it never
sells and let it sit on the market for years on end. I mean, it's no
sweat off my back, but it does baffle my mind. :-)

I bought a super clean coach with nothing wrong with it. I still have
to fix things here and there; it's old, things fail, but I'd turn the
key right now and drive cross country without a concern if I had a
reason to.

Maybe I'm wrong and someone will run out and give 'em $80k for it. I
hope they do, but I suspect we'll see it relisted closer to $65k-70k
this fall.

It may be overpriced who knows. From reading your posts I gather you are quite a bit younger than I, and I admire someone who selected the RV lifestyle far younger that I did. Although I had a hell of a time flying airplanes all those years, I had to rent a car, a motel and only I know what else. I wonder sometimes if owning a motor coach would have been better. Can't look back now because it was fun at the time and time has passed. All I am trying to pass along is if someone finds a well maintained coach, pay the money, because you pay now or pay later with these beasts. Minor changes to meet your personal taste is cheap compared to serious mechanical issues. When I say I have not spent $@#t on my coach in four years I mean it. I have spent some serious money to update it and add personal touches but that means nothing to the Seller; unless I am the Seller. I think the same as you Leroy. I have an 89 SP 36' & it has been a great coach for the 5 years we have owned it. Never let us down out on the road. The Cat is a good engine & low maintenance & the ZF tranny has been good to us also.

well maintained 3 year old batteries, and well maintained 4 year old
electronics are worth as much as dead batteries and broken radios.
Service records and oil analisis are worth as much as the post-
advert 'no warrenty expressed or implied' that follow those records
and reports. Some projects are fun to work on. My bus is worth 8
grand more to me than anyone else because sales tax was paid. It
would be great to wear the bus out and sell it for salvage like most
cars I buy.

Folks:
Our 1990SP36 is PRICELESS! While we probably could not get $70,000
in todays market, it is worth much, much more. It is our M-380
without any problems. Just looking at the construction of this bird
is enough to convince me that it is a jewell! The insulation, wiring
bundle, plumbing, levelers, cabinetry, chasis, interior,
instrumentation and on and on. I am convinced that the SP made from
1989-1992 is one of the BEST Birds ever built! I feel like our SP is
almost new. In fact when we pull in RV Parks someone always thinks it
is almost new. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to sell it, just
trying to let we BIRD owners know that we have GREAT machines
regardless of the FALLING prices. Hang on to them as you will not
find anything better! And, one more thing.....I agree that one should
pay a little more and buy a bird that is well taken care of and ready
to go instead of buying one that needs a lot of work......speaking
from experience with previous FC purchases, that "needing a little
work" can run into THOUSANDS OF $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
LOL(in poker it means lots of luck.)
