Parking brake knob

Hi Ernie,

We had our parking brake valve replaced last year. Valve cost $45
(NAPA?--crs). Replacement was difficult due to access issues.

If you can get to the valve replacement is no big deal. Our valve is located
just above the left side of the doghouse.

An individual called me and told me his parking brake knob was leaking
air. What is the proper way to remove and get this fixed? Is there a
rebuild kit for these or is a new one in the plans? Thanks, Ernie-

Thanks, Bill- the culprit valve is on a FC. Maybe the individual can squeeze
in there to remove it. Ernie in Texas

When I need to work around or under the dash, I just unbolt the
operator's seat from the seat post. Much better than wishing you had a
neck like a girrafe and a head like a golf ball with eyes all the way
around it, and tentacles instead of arms.

If the seat has electric or air controls, there might be some
disconnecting to do.

Half of the vintage 'Birds I've been in have some seepage from the
parking brake valve. I rotate the knob until it stops leaking, works on
most coaches. Replacing them takes 3-jointed arms and double-jointed
knuckles.
