Jake Brake Problem
I do not think it would be the throttle position sensor because the
trans down shifts. Is my thinking correct on that. Would a Pro Link be able to help me pinpoint the trouble. Does the trans and the DDEC share the same test point for the Pro Link. I only know of one plug which is by the drivers left knee. I'm finding that my old 84 PT35 systems was more on my level! Johnny M Slone Pikeville, Ky 98 LXI |

Jake Brake Problem
On my 94 the DDEC power wires are two sets of two wires that go
directly from the DDEC plugs on the street side to the engine center battery. This was the problem I had this last spring when my engine would start but not run. It turned out one wire set needed cleaning. Each set fired one bank, so only one bank of injectors were firing. The wire sets have inline fuses about a foot from the battery. tPS and rpm I dont believe make the jake (engine brake) inoperitive.
I think the switch at the pedal sends the signal (you can run the Engine brake with idle turned up) If some rug lint gets on the pedal switch or a floor mat gets atop the pedal, the pedal input to the computer is that the driver wants to propell so it shuts down the jake. On our '04 C15/Cat hydroseeder you some times have to pounce down on the pedal and back up to return the pedal to sound the jake. I also had some problem with a material trailer the seeders pull not allowing the jake to run???? I think the brake lights or wire held the issue, is the problem while you pull a toad??? Have you ever done a check on the diaphram for the emergancy brakes. Pressurize the tanks ;Shut down the engine; chock the tires ;release the parking brake. I had an old Benz Cabover with an exhaust brake that failed because there was a switch on the parkbrake and the brake was liftet slightly????? --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Johnny M Slone" > > I do not think it would be the throttle position sensor because the > trans down shifts. Larry, that is interesting. I wonder if your computer power was
modified. my prints show the three fuse/breakers behind the bumper. Is there three fuses behind the bumper on your bus??? I had recent computer problems on a class8 truck with a Cummins N14 and there were two fueses that the tech checked at one of the mid batteries. I wonder if engine mfg's spec they use a mid battery because the power is not as interrupted by the starter and alts from this location???? maybe BB set it up wrong with powering the computer from a stud between starter and batts and some prior tech picked up on it.
