, the group will not allow incivility, profanity, or personal attacks.
It has come to pass that active moderator participation is needed. I have received many emails asking for such. Too bad. I was hoping that the damn egos would go away in place of giving information to those that seek it. Consequently, the individuals with egos in the forefront of their brain are the first to go. I have tried to email individuals, privately, to no avail. Thus the needed censure. Thank you all the adhere to our guidelines. Ernie:
I agree with culling the "flamers" and maybe some folks are a bit more loose with profanities than others. Just don't get too carried away in using commercially available filters. One group I am a member of won't even allow the usual short-form name for "Richard". In retaliation, one poster has derived a psuedo- medical term "encephalophallic" to refer to what others call a "Richard Cranium". A good story appeared on the MSN News website a few weeks ago about the pitfalls of programs designed to replace "rude" words. A school district installed such a program, which checked incoming student writings and replaced "objectionable" words with those thought to be more acceptable. A student wrote a piece about President Lincoln's assassination. The program though "ass" should be replaced by "butt" and "tit" by "breast". Unfortunately, it didn't differentiate between those words as stand-alones and when they're embedded in a perfectly acceptable word. As a reult, a student paper was modified by the filter to read that "The President was buttbuttinated by an armed buttailant who was angered by the President's work on revising the Consbreastution" |

The only filters that Yahoo permits are new member moderation and we can control who can post or upload files/photos.
I agree with Mike, we don't have the time to put the whole business under moderation, thus making every post up for review before the general membership reads it.
I believe that one of our problems has been solved.
Thank you,
