Birds Nest Changes

OK Bruce,
If I were able to get to Georgia twice a year,I would be interested in paying to become part of the Nest Folks.
Our leash is short and disallows us to be away for an extended period of time.
I would like to see a West Coast version of the Birds Nest that would serve the same purpose.I think that would creat a lot of interest.
Nice to hear from you.

Hey Fred wouldn't the Quartzite Rally in the desert constitute the
West Coast version of a so-called "Birds Nest"? I know its a Dry Camp
situation but still quite a show of Birds that flock out there each
year, just a thought. Fred it sure is great hearing from you; hope
Jeanne and the girls are doing fine Smile.

Tim
You are so right. It is the Southwest Birds Nest.
We consider the Quartzsite Rally the most enjoyable eventthe family has.
Just being with all of the folks gives us a sense of belonging we don't experience anywhere else.
We are doing well and looking toward January!!
See both you then.

Bruce, Greg had an opinion even before Macey stipulated the new implementation of "Fee" Schedule. See post #38654. Greg's abscencia won't be too long.

Birds Nest Changes
I have stayed in the nest once in twelve years for total of 2 nights
was called a freeloader by the president of the family of friends
who threw a snit when questioned about his actions.
But never the less the freeloaders in attendance had a great time
Thanks for the spaghetti dinner Jim it was great

I can't justify a membership when I live a thousand miles away If
there is room when I am in Georgia I will pay by the night

The Nest is really a nice place and when there I spent money at the
factory. Replacement windshield 545.00 installed 2 hours labour quoted
they had the coach for 6 hours. Did not Quibble about the price

On now on to railwayairlinemilitary time

Birds Nest Changes
The Nest was always fun, wander around, go see Earl and pick up some
stuff, maybe some service, we have had a good amount of work done at
Wanderlodge over the years, nothing major, but lots of $500-$800 jobs.
The Nest inspired us get Direct TV, I don't want to watch the local
"Farm Report" Also, I would wash and wax the coach often will
staying, I know Newbies would always flip at how nice she would look,
I figured it must help sell a new one even if only a little. However,
there is more to this than a nostalgic look back, Wanderlodge is 6
hours out of our way (we travel down 95) been to Andersonville
already, don't like Jimmy Carter and I am way more vested in my local
truck shop and my local RV guy than I am in a service center 800 miles
away. I'm a restaurant owner,so I know all about big power bills, big
walk-in coolers run whether people are in the seats or not. So, I
don't really get this move, if the "membership" offered an amenity of
some type, such as club level food and beverage, tennis court that
wasn't a kennel, a pool, or how about cable? I may consider joining.
As I mentioned, even if we were just "freeloading" we would still end
up spending money at BB on something, looks like Georgia turned back
into the Georgia of our pre-BB day's: a state that takes 1 hour to
cross. I hate to say "stick a fork in these guys" but.....

Birds Nest Changes
Yesterday I went to the local service station an filled up. Twenty five gallons of fuel and paid for every drop. The owner did not offer to give a volume discount or punch card to get one fill up free. The only time I have ever received any free fuel was at a bar and I suspect the waitress wanted a bigger tip. I also suspect it cost the house money.

I have never had the occasion to visit the Birds Nest or the factory because I have not had a need to do so; yet.. By all accounts, CCW is doing the right thing. That's just good business.

If the Birds Nest is as nice as represented by others, CCW should set it up as an RV park and run it like one possibly creating another revenue center for the company. Every RV park I have visited this summer has been full. For those owners of BB's, CCW could provide a 50% discount off retail while staying at
the Nest similar to Passport America which is a service we use all the time. For BB owners, there could be a three month limit on stay at the discounted rate. A power surcharge may be applicable for long term stays at discounted rates. Otherwise, the rate is the rate. Providing discounts on shop work is at their descretion. A review of BB parts prices would be a good thing and having another revenue center might help that situation.

In the absense of running it like an RV park, Macy's membership program seems reasonable to me but without confidential information I privately wonder if it will maximize asset utilization and generate maximum possible revenue.

For whatever reason, BB created the freeloading atmosphere at the Nest and CCW inherited that mentality. Times continue to change. The current economy is not helping me either. I would rather have the company in business than stay at the Nest free.

My opinion and not chichen to
say so.

I cannot beieve that this thread has turned into a discussion on

railroad time. Doesn't any one have an opinion on the changes that

Macey laid out? Or do most here not utilize the Nest and BB service? I

see a lot more to Macey's post than paying to utilize the Bird's Nest.

I have a post ready to send but would like to hear from some others

first in case I have overlooked something that is obvious to others and

not me! So what do you think:

1. I dont care as I dont use BB or the nest

2. I think it is OK and will send them a check for $895 post haste.

3. I disagree with what they are doing but am too chicken to post.

4. Some other idea

Where is Greg when we need him. Forget Prop. 8 and get your butt back

here.
