: Friend request from Steve :)
Tim, The '' Steve "you referenced is a friend of mine and a BB wannabee. He signed up
with "Grouply" 2 days ago and when his inbox rapidly filled up with stuff from them, he opted out and changed all his p/w's, etc.He wasn't very happy with them.

Grouply is one of the newer social network sites. when you sign up it
allows you to see a profile of the other folks within your new group.
You can cross index those who are in a 'Wanderlodge group' to those
who are in a 'guns and ammo group' to those who live in California and
prove common interest. Or cross a 'Wanderlodge group member' to those
in a 'Living with STD's group' when picking a parking spot at
Quartzsite.
yahoo groups you can hide your interest and idenity by just not
filling in your profile. On grouply hiding is not an option. to view
others and participate you need to disclose interest and profile
prompts. you must be visible to see the likes of others. You can
get an invite from someone to join the group simply because they had
you on their list of contacts, emails, or you were a member of a group
that the grooply invite program solicited for the new member Steve.
The pretext was 'for Steve' but more in the favor and interest of
expanding participation to the grouply site. 'Steve' most likely never
singled out each invite, it was batch prompted by the grouply invite
program.
Grouply is cool. Disclosure keeps out the folks who have stuff to
hide. you can turn off future invites by 'signing up' or just marking
the "dont invite me box".
