Water Issue?

Water Issue?
I am trying to leave on a trip and I was filling the bus with water as
normal but when I flip the fill switch to off it doesn't close it just
continues to fill the water tank. Unfortunantly now my water pump will
not prime nor can I use the city water hookup since it just fills and
overflows the water tank. I assume it is the Sporlan valve maybe that
is stuck any help on how to fix, repair etc this valve or any tricks
to get it to close so I can go on my trip and then repair when I get back?
Appreciate any help!

Just clean the sporlan valve and it should work. It probably has a small piece of sand or crud in it preventing it from shutting off. Mine is under the bed.. The pump while in that position is probably just pumping water in a circle.

like a sprinkler electric valve the sporlan valve 94pt has an
electric magnet that pulls a pin valve to let water out from behind
the plunger which at rest traps water where that water pushes the
plunger to a seat and blocks the main water flow. therefor to block
a flow there must be pressure. since the pressure is off during
storage the valve float open and only reblocks once water pressure
gets back behind the plunger. while atrest with no pressure the seat
scums up and is hard to reseal, also the pinhole is hard to reseal
so water escapes from behind the plunger and it wont close. Full
timers have little issue with this because their system is
constantly pressurized like a home irrigation system.

Best bet is to turn the electric pump on for 15 min (or less not to
burn up the pump)and see if the valve seats by its self as it cycles
water thru or just open the valve up and clean it off.

I have seated it by using high pressure on the fill hose in short
burst but if there is an internal pressRed that will have no value
plus it could cause other issues.

I have had to open the valve up more than 5 times in 5 years. it is
usualy patina on the brass and rubber that hangs stuff up

Water Issue?
John,

The sporlan is easy to clean. Get a small rag to push into the opening to stop water flow. After removing the top of the valve you inset that rag.

Carefully clean the diaphram and parts. I find it's usually the diaphram that has the crud on it. Remove the rag, and re-assemble the valve the same way as it cam apart. Should take all of 15 minutes.

I find the Water Pump should be OFF when filling the water tank.

This may be a little late but for what it's worth, I recently had this
same problem. As most I went to the sporlan valve first, cleaned it
and put it back together and had the same problem. I then replaced the
toggle "tank Fill" switch and have not had another issue with it.
