Ultraguard Mud flap

[jburgessx2]

Does anyone have one of those long mud flag/rock guards on their PT40? Mine
doesn't have one but it seems it may be helpful in keeping the rocks and oil off
the toad. As I mentioned before, the oil from the Detroit seems to end up on
the back of the coach and/or toad and I would like to cut that down.

If you use one, what do you recommend for an 85 PT40?

I was more curious on whether or not people used them and there was one in
particular that worked better on a PT40. I've seen some pretty good ones
advertised on the internet and was hoping to get something tested and true by
Wanderlodge users.

I have one on my PT38, was on there when I got the coach. Does not have any
brand name on it. I still get oil on the back of the coach and toad.

I wasn't aware that full-length mud flaps weren't standard! They definitely are
the best for toad protection, although having both wheel mud flaps and
full-length is a double-protection.

About all I can tell you is that it should be quite heavy.

Well, I was hoping the extra long flap would curtail some of the oil - that's to
bad. Thanks for letting me know. I might still get one because it probably
will cut down on the rocks - couldn't hurt anyways. And, maybe it will keep
some of the oil off the toad and coach.

Jerry,

I misunderstood your purpose. If you have an 8V92, even if you have relocated slobber tubes, you'll still have some oil vapor trailing you. But that's one of the very few minor disadvantages of an 8V.

The only way your going to stop the oil mist on your coach and toad is to
install a CCVS Closed Crankcase Ventilation System.

I installed one on my coach and it stopped 99% of the misting problem.

I took my large flap off a few months age. The coach runs cooler. Got that tip
from some old Eagle converters, seems as though the large flap disturbs the air
flow in the engine compartment.

Kurt,

That sure sounds like a better idea. Are there any drawbacks to a CCVS?
Without being too nosey, are they expensive to buy and install? I really don't
like the idea of the spraying oil.
