I never use a cruise control on anything after a elderly women driver pass my
truck doing 70 in a Volvo sound a sleep. I dont have faith in my ability to
avoid the same. Good news was the rock she hit kept her reckless disreguard
personal.

Mine does not work either. Mechanic said it was not worth fooling with
(probably true at his rate). I need another project to put on the list.

Well it wouldn't hurt just to take it out and clean it up. Its not a very hard
job to do and what the hell maybe it might just start working again. Mine was
frozen up and just need the internal vains cleaned up and lubracated. Works
like a champ. The only thing wrong with these old cruise controls it just takes
it time to set the speed at which you want to set it at. If I want to set it at
60 mph I usally speed up to 65 and engage the cruse control and by the time it
starts to go on cruse control its usally at 60 mph. Jon

The diaphragm that shuts off the vacuum generator once adequate vacuum is acheived is not visible. It is inside the vacuum generator itself and finding it is likely to damage the vacuum generator irreparably. I took mine off and disassembled it because it was constantly leaking air. In retrospect it was most likely leaking air because it was operating all the time due to a vacuum leak somewhere in the cruise control system. I didn't understand how it worked when I began taking it apart. Rostra makes the electric cruise control I used. I think Chuck Wheeler also used one if my memory serves me correctly. There are others out there but Rostra is the least expensive. Kerry 82 FC 35 Denver
