LED Conversions?
Hi Folks,
Greetings from the road. Let's talk about lighting.. I just completed a small interior lighting project. I replaced all 18 of my 12v 20w spot lights with 12v 2w LEDs. They look pretty good. There is a drop in the brightness that I have to get use to. I can run ten bulbs for the usage of one old bulb. http://www.buylighting.com/ProductDetail...ED1383-50K I have replaced all my OEM marker lights with amber LEDs from Dupree Products. http://www.dupreeproducts.com/ProductDet...e=LEDY-001 Question to pose to the forum.. Has anyone replaced the turn signals, break lights, reverse lights and rear running lights with LEDs? Do you have anything to share from your experience? Any thoughts? I can either replace the assembly or simply add an LED light to the current assembly. The 35FC has Cats Eye Series 650 [. There is a not a direct replacement for the assembly. There are roughly similar products available. Here are some examples: http://www.schoolbuspartsco.com/WebPages...s/led.html Nate Owens 1983 35FC "It's a Wanderful Life" |

Nate,
I have also replaced a couple of the marker lights with LEDs they look real neat. Ireplaced the lower two tail/.stop lights with round school bus style LEDs. I re-used the top hole and re-drilled the side and bottom holes . Siliconed the old holes and they are hardly noticeable. They work great and if you look at them you will notice that the old lights come on a split second later than the LEDs when brakes are applied. This is due to the delay in the old filament style bulbs. I may replace the top ones later, but for now I am real please with this upgrade.

Nate,
I'd love to see pictures of your LEDs in operation, especially the spot lights. Not sure if you can easily demonstrate the drop in brightness in a photo or not, but I'd love to see it if it's possible. -Ryan '86 PT-40 8V92 On Wed, Mar 18, 2009 at 7:17 AM, compmanben > Hi Folks, > > Greetings from the road. I've only owned my 85 PT40 for a few months. The previous owner replaced the
taillights with LED lights. They are AWESOME and very bright. There is no comparison with the light output of the original taillights and these LED's. When I drive at night I feel very safe and it's good to know everyone can see me for miles! I might check into replacing the side markers and a few others. Hi Jerry,
Thanks for your reply. Do you think you can post some pictures? Hi Everyone, I'll post some pictures of the LED marker lights and interior LED lights as soon as I get a chance. Thanks! I've posted a few pics of my LED taillights. One picture is with the taillights
off, one with all four taillights, and one with a close-up of a single taillight. These photo's show the regular taillight only, not with the brakes applies. With the brakes applied, they get extremely bright. I'm thrilled the previous owner put these on so I didn't have to do it myself.
