Has anyone had success finding the keyless entry pad Ford supplied?

Wallace, once I had a 94 Airstream with the Ford Keyless entry and no code, a
friend told me that they put the override code on the back of the computer (brain box) and sure enough, it was there. And with that code I could erase all other codes and reprogram. Marty Gregg 95 BMC 37 Kennewick WA |

When I had trouble with the keypad coming loose, I thought it needed to be
replaced. After getting the Ford part number from Bluebird, I checked with the local Ford dealer. It was from a Thunderbird from many years earlier. There was only one in the USA in CA. I was able to brace the pad from the back and get it working, so never needed one. I think I still have the part number, if anybody needs it. MoreyZ 99LXi41' currently near Sumner, MO |

Maybe they will fit. http://www.a1electric.com/keypad.htm Rich D. '99LXi43' CT |

Do you recall how and what you did to reinforce the back of the keypad successfully?

Fred,
If you can find the control box- and I've heard of it being behind the passenger panel next to the seat and also behind the overhead in front of the passenger- you should find the code for yours. The downside with the system listed by Rich may be that it will not work if the vehicle is running. The addon Ford system will not let you in if it's running. The factory installed Ford system will let you in when it's running. I have not tried this on my bird, so I don't know if it's set up the same as the factory installed system or the addon system. The Ford addon system is essentially another keyfob stuck to the side of the vehicle. The keyfobs don't work if the engine is running. Hope this makes sense. The Ford Part No. is:
e9sz14a626a Description: ACTU ASY-DR LK SW On 08/21/07 there was 1 at McLeod Ford, Riverdale, CA 559-867-3549, they had it in stock since 8/19/05. It is an obsolete part. Any Ford dealer can check it on their computer system. My trouble was that the switch was separating from the plastic housing on the outside from keying in the numbers. I removed the screws on holding it in without moving the switch. The screws are painted in and the housing is probably plastic, so I couldn't move or remove the housing without breaking it and ruining the paint. I then cut a small strip of hardwood, threaded it in through the wires, placing it behind the switch. Next, placed 2 stainless sheet metal screws from the outside long enough to pull the wood against the back of the switch. I initially tightened them too tight and the switch quit working. I gave myself the DIY cuss words, then slacked off on the screws and it has worked since 9/07. I finished up with back silicone resealing the switch from the outside. I have some cracks in the paint, but it beats trying to replace the switch which is in a very small area, with a big bunch of wires in a loose bundle. MoreyZ 99LXi41' |
